Questions about the xyron 510 and 850

I am thinking of purchasing a xyron but don't know if I should go with the 510 or the 850... any suggestions? I like the fact that the 850 does larger items, but I wonder if the 510 would do just fine... HELP. I can buy the 850 with 2 sample refills for $115.00 and get a 500 free... what do you think?

I have the 500, and I really don't use it too much, but I really wish I had gotten the bigger one. The small one is nice for letters and small die-cuts and such, but if you want to use it when matting your photos, it's not going to be big enough for most of your mattes. The 850 for $115.00 with a free small one sounds like a good deal, then you don't have to waste space on the big one when you have small projects, but you have the bigger size if you should need it.

I just ordered the 850 from wildeidea.com It was 77.95 or 89.95 depending on if you wanted to get the sample catridges and idea video and book. I can hardly wait for the UPS guy to come knocking!

I would go with the 850 for the versitility (?) of the machine. You can order 4" adhesive cartridges for it. That will allow you to do smaller die cuts and letters without wasting a lot of materials. Also, you can have the option of creating magnets with the 850.

DDjah - I use my 510 on almost every layout. I use it mostly for smaller items since it's only 5" wide. I also have used laminating and Lam/magnet cartridges as well for some other projects. If you are going to want bigger items, by all means get the big one and have them chip in the smaller one.

I have the 850 and LOVE it. But wait to buy it with a coupon! I get a Michael's coupon for 40% off in the paper about every other week. Or if you don't get the paper, you can ask at the CS Counter when you walk in for their newspaper circular.

Miranda, I thought that was the address, but here's how i got there. I put xyron in the search box (I have MSN) and then I looked down the list and found wilde, so I went there by using the blue link. As you can tell I am somewhat new to this computer stuff, but try my dinosaur method, and hopefully you will get there too. Sorry this doesn't help much, Nancy

Miranda--my xyron arrived yesterday morning after I had signed off the board. I had a great time unpacking everything. Then when my mail arrived there was a personal letter from the woman who owns the co. and a thank you, and reordering materials. It took only 4 days to get here, and arrived in excellent condition. Could you believe their prices on cartridge refills? Glad you found them, I see what I did wrong, I left out the -! Nancy
