Btw, I have two brothers currently serving in Iraq. One is considering staying on for a second tour because he is enjoying working with the Iraqi people so much. He feels like he's making a difference and he's single so why not. My other brother will hopefully be home sometime around the end of this year or early next and he wishes to resume his post working with the National Guard bureau and the department of homeland security. I am proud and honored to have both these men in my family doing what they so to make it so that I can walk outside or drive to the grocery store. The things we often take for granted in this country are so small. While home on leave my brother was just almost in culture shock. The first morning he woke up and got in his own vehicle and drove to the store to pick up groceries for breakfast. He didn't have to get dressed up in all his body armour, fire test his weapon and then get in a three man convoy just to leave the base. Hehehe the thing he misses most is a nice glass of ice cold milk. Just thought I would share a few thoughts.

I have to agree. I have been in touch with a lady that I know over there, and she said she is not sure when her dh will make it home. He works right above the are where the tube was bombed.

This is so very sad.

Why is it necessary for them (terrorists) to kill innocent people to make their point? Don't they realize that their actions just make us want to hunt them down like the animals they are?

Prayers to those in the UK and to those around the world with family there.

What a tragedy. I cannot imagine what it would be like to lose a loved one to the hands of terrorists. Unfortunately, war is a vicious cycle. In response to Christina's post, I ask these questions...

Why is it necessary for them (our government sending our soldiers oversees to fight a NEVER ENDING battle) to kill innocent people to make their point? Don't they realize that our actions just make them (the terrorists) want to hunt us down like the animals we are?

What point are we trying to prove??? That we are fighting for freedom??? There will NEVER be a day when foregin troops would enter our country and try to tell our people how to live. That just wouldn't happen. So why do we feel the NEED to police the world. That's just absurd!

Too many people (both our troops and those that are killed in their own countries) are dying for a cause that has been deemed important by our government. Why not focus all of that strength and money on causes here in our own country. There are many individuals and families that need our help. Our schools need funding. I'm a counselor, and everyday I see ways the mental health system needs funding. People need healthcare. We need to turn our strengths inward.

It's beyond political parties now. For me, it's about human life. When are we going to start caring? It may sound like I don't support our troops, which is entirely untrue. They are doing a job that I could never do. Unfortunately, when you speak out against war, you are often unpatriotic. I support the troops, NOT the war.

This is a scrapbooking site, so I shouldn't rant, but I felt this view point needed to be expressed.

good points of view, both vegaschristina and Aneesa. we have to do something about stopping terrorism -- the loss of innocent lives *is* horrible. to want our government to react responsibly is not unpatriotic at all -- and insisting on using our military force responsibly is every citizen's duty.

Terrorists would hunt us down no matter what. They are programmed to hate us! So sorry that it has taken so many lives!

My prayers are with all the troops. I have several relatives in Iraq and Afghanistan and am thankful and fortunate that my brother and my cousin have already served their year in Iraq and are safe at least for now! I don't know how much longer this can go on. And I pray they won't have to go back like so many have had to already!

I heard about London today and my first thoughts were about that horrible Tuesday morning in Sept. And I thought it was a nice Thursday morning... people on their way to work.. very similar. My husband was in the WTC less than an hour before the first plane hit. I was so lucky to quickly reach him at his office and discover he was initially safe. But then the phones went dead and the bridges were closed and the rest of the day was spent worrying for his safety and the rest of my family. I'm lucky he made it home covered in soot hours and hours later, but I have friends whose husbands didn't make it home.
My thoughts and prayers are with all the wives and families and husbands at home worrying about their loved ones.

I can't believe how tragic this is. I have a friend who was leading a group of high schoolers on a trip through England. They made it back yesterday, but could you imagine the chaos that must be going on over there?

My thoughts are also in London. All this killing innocent people makes me very angry!!!!
And for me it's coming so close now, I mean: for me London is only 1 hour by plain! It really scares me!!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with the people of London. I also support our troops and the job they are doing overseas. My opinion is it is better to face problems head on rather than hide behind our borders and then have to fight a war on US soil. And I truly believe that if we don't stop them now they will spread...silently and quietly and strike when you least expect it and where you least expect it. Killing many many many more innocent lives. It might even take 5, 10, 20 years even but these people are fanatics. They live thier lives to destroy. They don't care how long it takes or how many people they have to hurt along the way. Sorry about the rant just my opinion.

As many have said, I can't help but think of 9-11. My prayers go out to anyone there. Something like this affects a whole country - not just those who are hurt or present at the attack.

Prayers for London... brings back way too many memories of 9/11...and I'm half-way across the country even.

It was very sad to wake up to the tragic news this morning. My prayers are also going to those affected by the bombing in London.

We cannont let events like this, the Madrid bombing, or 9/11 change the way we live or the terrorist's will have achieved their goal - terror.

I do think there needs to be increased security measures on trains. I think it is crazy that you practically have to strip naked to get through security at the airport, but as far as I know you don't even have to go through a metal detector to get on a train. (This is from my experience on Amtrak, the Long Island RR and the NYC subway in the past year) Extra security may mean leaving for a trip a little earlier, but I think that is a fair comprimise for safety.
