Are you entering your county fair?

Our little fair has paper crafts as a division, broken down into different lots, such as different themed scrapbooks, and different types of stamped cards. I'm going to enter several scrapbooks and cards just for the fun of it.

I think this is a rather new thing at our fair, don't know for sure, but it will be fun to see the different entries. I know there are plenty of stampers in the area, but I have yet to meet many scrapbookers.

Anyone thought about entering your work? I know some of the midwest county fairs are pretty big events. Ours is pretty small in comparison. Maybe that's why I feel I have a shot at a ribbon, lol.

I didn't enter, but I was the judge. We had several scrapbook pages and scrapbooks in both the adult and youth divisions.

I'll have to look into that. I don't remember seeing it at ours last year though. I always enter photos (and usually manage to get a ribbon) and cross stitch.

Wow... I didn't know they had a Scrapbooking Division... I'll have to check that out, my local fair is coming in early November...

I thought about it, but don't want to take the chance of leaving my book there for a week.

Ya know, I asked dh if I could enter the fishing scrapbook I made for him, and he also brought up the safety issue. Do I need to worry about leaving my albums there all week? I guess I will question the authorities there about security before I do anything. I mean, it's hard to believe someone would want my personal albums, but crazier things have happened. Also, how will they be displayed. Will anyone be able to look through them? I'll decide based on what they tell me on Monday.

I wasn't so worried about someone taking it as I was about them spilling something on it or something like that. All that yummy fair food definitely doesn't mix well with my scrapbook.

I've either judged or entered our Colorado State Fair for the past three years and was quite happy to win a couple of blue ribbons and nice sized gift certificates. I've already gotten my entry ready for this year and can't wait til the judging on the 30th. It's traditionally our "family night at the fair" and we have a great time. You all should definitely enter, I imagine the prizes at the state level are probably bigger than those at the county, but I've never entered at the county level so I don't know how that goes.

As for the security of the layouts, in my experience the fair officials take very good care of them. Mine are in sealed page protectors and backed with heavy cardboard so it would take some doing to damage them. The only time they're on display is during the judging on a big table that's watched over, then behind glass in a case in the Arts building, so I don't worry that they'll be harmed.

I would definitely enter if our fair had a category for it. I guess I could enter it under paper crafts, but I don't think anyone has done it before. Maybe I need to suggest it. My friend's grandpa is part of the fair board.

I would definately enter a fair compition if I could. I always thought that you had to be a memeber of 4-H to enter things in the fair around here...I could be wrong though.

Our fair is pretty much stuck on competitions like "smartest pig" or "cow most likely to drive a tractor". I doubt I'll ever get into a page competition unless its with a donkey.
