Anyone tried completing Rebecca Sower style pages?

I was just wondering if anyone has tried her style of layouts. I am just about done with three and want to post them and get opinions. I will post them tomorrow so I can get a good clear digital of them and please let me know what you think and if any of you have tried her methods and how you think and feel about them (your pages or her style and trying it yourself)!

I love love love anything I see from Rebecca Sower. I dig her style, all the work that goes into the detail on her pages and her thoughtful journaling.

I have not done any pages in that style, though. It's just not me. Sara (sfmadrigal) has done some WONDERFUL "RS" style pages that you should check out in the gallery.

Uh, YUP! I've created 3 LO's inspired by RS. Love her style...just not all the time as they take FOREVER to create.

Due to all the raves that i have heard regarding this book and author I just went to the CM website and purchased it so I have not done any RS inspired pages but if it is as wonderful as you guys say than I will be shortly. Just fyi I also bought the seasonal memories book because my next big project is going to be an album for each season showing how our lives are different for each. I know....I have boxes and boxes of traditional family photos that are waiting to be scrapped so I shouldn't be starting on a "backward" project, but I figure if I don't do these type of projects before I have kiddos I never will do them. I really enjoy doing projects that reflect my life and times. Sorry got a little off subject!!! I get so excited!

Yes, her book is worth every penny! If I could ever find time to scrap I would. Actually, I have plans for several pages inspired by her book. Between going to CKU and reading her book, I have completely changed my views (style, etc.) on scrapbooking. I can't wait to actually do some now!

OK, so I'm a little behind the eight ball on my library of scrapbooking books. I just bought RS's book and all I can say is, "Wow." I think it will certainly affect the way I scrapbook from now on. What great ideas, not just for layouts but *what* to scrapbook. I'm one of those people that doesn't scrapbook something unless I have pictures, mainly because I wanted to keep them as photo albums...but then again, I just realized that scrapbooking gives me another level of freedom in expressing and saving my thoughts and ideas that may not have resulted in actual photos. I think I'm going to hang that quote she'd written from another scrapbooker (Kim McCrary) to remind me, "Decide first what you'd like to say on a layout, then find the pictures to help say it." This has always been my approach to all advertising and marketing (from my hi-tech days) initiatives but it's amazing to me that I'd never thought to apply it to scrapbooking pictures. Anyway, I've just started her book and now I can't pull myself away from it...

It depends on your style. I like every book of Becky Higgins I've seen--I like her balance of journaling, photos and embellishments. Her pages are rarely overdone with too much STUFF and the photos and stories are the stars of the pages. And of course the Rebecca Sower book. She journals feelings, emotions and relationships rather than events.

I love the BH Creative Companion! It's sketches of ideas for accents, borders, journaling and titles, layout designs, photo mats, and odds and ends. You can look at the sketch and apply it to just about any pictures you may have. It's awesome for the times that I can't think of anything for a set of pictures. You can literally open the book and point to something and make it work.
