Sizzix BIG SHOT PRO

I've searched here & can't find any comments/opinions on this.
I have a Big Shot & am considering replacing it with this one. I love that you can use any Ellison die made.

personally, I think that it's VERY overpriced.

Yes, it would be cool to be able to cut 12x12 but eh, I don't need/want another machine.

I just priced some of the dies & well...unnecessary! Sticking with the Big Shot.

Yeah, the 12x12 dies are CRAZY expensive!

I have the pro and LOVE it!!! I have a cricut expression as well. I find that these two machines work well for me. The pro dies have been out for awhile, and now are clearanced, so very reasonable. I only pick what I really need on the pro dies because I do have a cricut. My pro is the go to when I need to cut chipboard. Yes, the cricut will cut chipboard but not thick chipboard. The pro can also cut any die/ embossing folder....ANY!!!! I haven't found any that won't work!!! It is a matter of finding the right sandwhich but it is trial and error on some, but I have always gotten them to work. I can't wait for the 12X12 embossing folders!!!!! I believe in buying a machine once, that's way I bought the expression and the pro. They are the largest offered so I never need to sell and upgrade!!! The only down side to the pro....it is heavy!!!! Like 44lbs....but it isn't something that I use EVERYTIME I scrap, so taking on and off the shelf isn't a huge issue right now. I recently made banners for my son's graduation kindergarten class with it!! LOVE my pro!!!!

BSP ... It's a fabulous machine, but I too feel it's over priced. The trays are way too expensive and you DO have to keep replacing them when they have warped to the point you get poor cuts even with shims. I have a GrandeMark by AccuCut - the best bang for your buck and they keep having sales on it at the accucutcraft website. Yes, you have to replace the trays for this too, BUT they are WAY cheaper.

Go to youtube and watch how-to videos on both machines ... they are awesome, but I would only trade in my GrandeMark for a motorized version

I can cut my BSP dies in my GrandeMark

bottom to top sandwich layering

* GrandeMark Tray
* Giant Cutting Mat
* Sizzix BSP white adapter (not he AC black adapter)
* Sizzix BSP die (foam up)
* Paper, Cardtock or Chipboard
* either a Giant Cutting Mat (cheaper) or a BSP Cutting * Mat/Pad

Works great ... However, some BSP dies are not equal (in addition to slight tray warping), so for some of my BSP dies I have taped a piece of .030 chipboard to the back side of the die to get a better or COMPLETE cut, not all of them, just some.

I basically have 3 machines ...

... SideKick ... I cut my Sizzlits & Decorative Strips (1/8" thick) with this little cutie ... I prefer the precision. I have tried them in the CB and yes, they cut, but it's awkward for me personally.

... Vagabond (just replaced my CB) ... In addition to all my folder embossing, I use this machine for my slimline (Originals, Bigz, Thick Cuts, Zip'eSlims, Compact ---> 5/8" thick) dies as well as my wafer (QK, SB, MFT, PTI, TE, Zip'eCuts, etc. ---> really thin metal) dies that will fit. ... I also use the CB pads instead of the Sizzix Cutting Mats - way cheaper, but if you plan on cutting LOTS of XL dies, keep at least one or two pair of SZ XL cutting pads on hand as the CB pads are a tad too short and you have to waste time making sure it's all lined up properly with the CB XL pads.

... AccuCut GrandeMark ... I cut my BSP dies, as well as my SureCut and Standard dies (15/16" thick dies). I also use this machine to cut my wafer SB GRAND nesties dies what won't fit in my Vagabond.

This is what works best for me, but everyone has different needs ... you will figure it out what is best for you. I went though many machines (Zip'eMate, Squeeze, Original, Revolution, BigKick, AllStar, Wizard v1) until I found what was right for me. Who knows what the future will bring ...

Not sure about tray wrapping on the pro....I haven't ever heard about that......

A friend of mine has a BSP and her tray is warped (similarly to my GrandeMark trays); bowed down in the center, despite the fact she uses all parts of the tray as equally as possible. She uses it a LOT; several hundred cuts a day at least 3x a week.
