Envelops???

Hey Every1!!

I'm new to this site-- and can i say i love it!
I was just curious... i started making my cards... but i dont have envelops to put them in... i mean... i bought some but its costy... does anyone make them? if so .. how??

I don't make mine, but I do make the "invitation" size cards (8.5x11 cut in half & folded) and you can get a box of 100 envelopes from somewhere like Office Max for like $8 - MUCH cheaper than the 5-10packs at the craft store!

Envelopes r the priciest thing for cards. My local stamp store buys envelopes in bulk then sells them at 10 for $1.20, the bigger the envelope the more it cost no matter where u buy them but after much research I have found her prices 2 b the cheapest and she offers many sizes. Check out a stamp store since they focus on card making.
If u make square cards the envelopes r far more expensive than a standard envelope, like A2 and so on.
I decorate my envelpes myself.

I buy card/envelope sets from J's or M's and its not really that bad. I just looked up on J's site, you can get 26 ivory 4x6 envelopes for $3.99.
Just remember that square cards look really cool, but cost more postage because of their shape as compared to "normal" envelopes.

I've had a hard time finding the right size envelopes at J's and M's. I usually either fold my cards in half, or in fourths and the envelopes they carry are a little smaller (at least the ones I could find at those stores.) Currently I'm just using some envelopes a friend of mine gave me a couple of years ago that work perfectly - but they're all green! I never even thought to check an office supply store. Thanks for the idea!

I know, envelops seem to cost more than the card itself if you dont do your research!
I wonder if it would be easier to just make envelops. I saw it once in a craft store and they sold it for $.50 cents a piece which is nothing! They were absolutly gorgeous-- too bad they dont sell them anymoire

Just a "heads up"... I am from Canada and our cardshops/card sections has Reps come in and replenish the card supply monthly or according to holidays. You may not know this but the reps has to send the cards back to the supplier but toss the envelopes in the garbage! Some card shops sell those envies for pennies(50 for $1.00 etc)so if you have a favourite cardshop talk to the manager and you may just get really lucky!!! I have 100s of them and have given away just as much!

i got some envie templates from greensneakers (search for it) at J's (years ago- don't even know if they still carry it) and LOVE them! I can use up all my "ugly" cardstock that I don't really care for. Or I can use regular patterend CS to make it match the card! LOVE LOVE LOVE my templates!

I use the envelope templates by Anna Griffin. The set has templates for at least 10 sizes of envelopes plus a gift bag and was well worth the buck I paid for it (I got mine on sale at a Plaid craft store when they were going out of business).

Try your Hallmark or Carlton shop. I got mine from Hallmark but I work at a dept store and get them there as well!

I have bought boxes of greeting card envelopes at Walmart for about $4.50 a box of 50. The envelopes fit the standard size 8 1/2 x 11 paper folded in half to make cards (which is the size I like to make). Good Luck

this is the best thing to make envelopes. Check this out. There is a great video tutorial here as well.

I have this and now I never have to buy envelopes again! You can use up pattern paper and put the pattern inside, with the white outside. I love it.
