Best way to attach sand?

Hi Everyone

I wil be making a birthday card for a friend who is big into surfing and I was thinking about adding actual sand onto the card, is this possible/good idea? best way to do this?

I've never added sand to a card, but have put it on a layout. I just used a thin layer of tacky glue and pressed it in. It dries clear and holds the sand very well. The more glue you use, the thicker the sand.

I put sand on my Christmas cards one year to make the sand dunes the Wisemen and camels were on. I used a good white glue that dried clear. You could also use a liquid glue like KI Memories Gloo, or Crystal Effects.

I was going to suggest glossy accents or something similar to that.

I did a project with a youth church group and wanted to make paper look like sand. I ended up cutting sandpaper into the shape I wanted and it looked just fine. I got the light colored type. Hope this tip might work for you.

I used sand once on a school project and used spray adhesive worked great

There was another topic about this on the general forums - and there was a suggestion about using Sandpaper instead. Less mess and way easier. Would that work for you in your situation?

We used to make "sand art" as kids - the page was made up of precut sticker sheet and you peeled off the piece that you wanted covered with a particular colour, and work with one colour at a time. Maybe double sided sticker sheet would work? Personally I'd be inclined to go with the sandpaper - I hate working with glue!

run a small piece of paper thru a xyron then adhere that paper to your project after you put the sand on the glue
