Stashbusting Project Ideas

My paper stash is insane. Some other bits too... cough ribbon cough... But paper is my big problem. If I stacked it up the pile would be taller then me. I plan to purge anything I don't like, but I still like probably 80% of it.
So I need a list of projects that really eat up the paper stash. I've already got a few ideas. I'm making calendars for my family for Christmas. And I have a few baby gifts coming up & I'm thinking albums. But I need more ideas.
So what do you make that uses tons of patterned paper?

I've been able to clear some out with some of my Configurations projects, which also provide great opportunities for using up lots of embellishments. Check my gallery for five examples of Configurations books.

I make 12 x12 pages for wall art and give as gifts. Not sure that would use a lot of paper though. I've also been using more layers in my LO's.

You can make your own smash books with them. You can also use them to make envelopes for mailing letters or cards. Perhaps you could make a stationary set, or greeting cards that are blank on the inside and give those as gifts. These are a few of the ideas I have. I'm making my 14 year old niece a smash book/junk journal for Christmas. You can also use them to make dividers for recipe books. What about making your own planner for 2016? I'm a paper junkie, so I am always making all sorts of things with paper, including making handmade paper. I do not know why I have a literal obsession with interesting paper, but I do.

I think it ought to eat up a decent amount of paper. In the video she's folding them so the white side is showing, but I imagine that if you'd fold them so that the colored side of the paper is showing instead you'd have some fantastic smashbooks.

I use my "I don't want to look at you anymore" paper as envelopes. I use the WRMK envelope make and the white side of the paper the outside and the pattern part the inside.

When you're purging, make three piles: chuck it, donate it, keep it. Once you've got stuff sorted, go through "keep it" and put at least a quarter of it into "chuck it" and a quarter into "donate."

Having gotten rid of all but the product you really LOVE (not just like) then you can start making page kits with it. If you end up with items you can't make page kits with (no matching embellies, no coordinating papers etc) put it aside for envelopes, shadow boxes, notebooks and all the other cool ideas that have been suggested.

Oh, and stop buying paper until you've completed this process. If you buy paper to go with stuff in the "keep it" pile, you're just making more work for yourself next year. Oh, sorry, forgot to mention that you should probably do this at least once a year.

Started a list in the first post. I'll try to keep updating it with all you guys great ideas.

You can also use scrapbook paper as wrapping paper on small gifts I've done that a few times when I needed to wrap something for a birthday or anniversary and could only find Christmas wrapping paper in my house.

You can make gift bags from it as well. I saw a video on Youtube about making gift bags with newspaper, but the idea would also work with other papers I'm sure.

You can make paper beads from scrapbooking paper. This is a good idea for papers that you don't particularly care for but the colors are interesting.

What about rolled paper projects? One of my favorite paper crafters on Youtube is Shannon Green and she made some very cute Christmas trees with rolled paper.

Another option if you are into dollhouse and miniatures is to use it for wallpaper or flooring in a dollhouse You can use paper scraps to make "books" for a dollhouse.

How about paper bouquets for shut-ins? Last year an elderly friend of ours was in ICU for several weeks and couldn't have fresh flowers so I used silhouette 3d cut files to make flowers from paper and then attached them to wires to make a bouquet. Used up quite a bit of my untouched BG stash. Once he was in rehab I ended up making one for his roommate at the facility. They loved them.

What a lovely idea! And not one many people would think of so that makes it quite the unique gift. Thanks for sharing the idea!

Paper wreaths and ornaments. I am planning a Christmas wreath to use up some of the holiday papers that are in my 3 stacks of Christmas paper. (Must stop buying Christmas stacks!)

3D projects really use a lot of paper. Great for gifts and people are always so impressed that's it is paper!!

Great ideas. I've added them all to the list. I'm gonna work on adding examples for each.

Use your paper to make games for children or to make puzzles.

You could even give some of it to a retirement home older people love to use it for scrapbooking or other crafts.
Or
Give some of it to a daycare care. I know that is something the daycare I work at uses a lot of.

What great ideas...says a former paper hoarder

I don't have a HUGE collection, but I have a pretty decent supply. My problem is that if I haven't used it in the past 3 years, am I really going to?

I have whole sets of Basic Grey. Folders full of collections or color schemes.

Sure, I could use some of it, but some of it just doesn't zing me any more.

My question: should I swap/sell it or make card kits to sell out of it? Does anyone buy card kits anymore?
