Anyone suggest a good heat embossing tool?

I am wanting to learn how to emboss. Can anyone suggest a good heat embosser and where to get one?

Well what you are going to get is a heat gun. Look for one with a wider nozzle, it will spread out where the heat goes and be less likely to warp your CS. I have some other tips, if you are interested PM me and I would be happy to tell you them.

I've used the wand style (long stick looking one with a metal tip) and the one that looks like a mini hair dryer. I actually BOUGHT the mini hair dryer one for a few reasons.

The air isn't concentrated in one little spot like with the wand style heat gun. It covers a larger area, so it works quicker and you're not as likely to burn/warp your project. Also, it's easier to hold and quieter than the wand style.

I got mine at my lss, but I'm pretty sure M's has them, too. Its made by Ranger/Inkssentials and called the Heat It Craft Tool.

You may want to look into purchasing a non stick craft sheet. I use it for tons of things, but its great for embossing too.

I am just learning to emboss also. I got a Marvy pinkish/purple heat tool that seems to work great. M's has them for about $24.
I hope your doing better with embossing. So far, all I seem to achive on a regular basis is burning my fingers!

Get a pair of needle nose pliers to hold your paper. It will get your fingers away from the heat. If you are embossing the entire piece of paper (like cut-out letters or something) use some repositionable adhesive to stick it to a large piece of paper while you heat it.

Originally I got the Carolee's Creations Hot Boss due to the different tips & lower price, but it sucked so I returned it. So do NOT get that one!

I went to a stamping class at Archiver's tonight and we used the pliers for embossing. The pliers made it so easy. We used the same pliers for chalking.

I love my coloriser heat gun. Got it at my LSS.

I got one at Wal-Mart that looks like a hair dryer. I also like it b/c it is spread out. I have to admit...I haven't used it very much but would love to do more with it. Do you have to have a special kind of ink to emboss with stamps? Could someone please tell me what that ink is called? I have a embossing pen but would like to have a stamp pad.

I had one that looked like a small blow dryer - I burnt it out really quick. Before I started as a SU demo - I bought the heat gun from SU - so I have had my gun for over 3 years and it still works great. Mine gets alot of use from shows and stuff - and has been dropped quite a few times - but it keeps on melting for me!!

Anyways, at CHA there were these super cute PIG shaped embossing tools with extra wide nozzles. I did not see them myself but a friend of mine recently showed me a pic and they are soooo cute!! If I was needing to buy an embossing gun, that;s what I would want!

I bought one of the pink pig embossing guns at CHA and i love it. It's easy to hold and the tip doesnt get hot (wont burn your fingers)
