How do I make a Frosting effect

I would love to know how to make a frosting effect, for instance- I've seen scrapbook pages on ebay where they have creating a cookie or cupcake that looks like it has real frosting on it!!
Does anyone know how to do this??

There is a certain white paste available at craft shops to fill up embossing metal to create a raised effect. You can use this to create the frosting by applying it with a spattle and then brush some glittered glue over it if you like that effect. The touch of glitters usually makes the glinstering like snow has. Am trying to remember the paste name n brand... I believe its by JoAnn Acrylics. Not sure tho... A few yrs ago they had a whole paint range used for woodcrafts and napkins.... Am sure there are other brands who sell such aswell. Ask in the craftshop for model paste....

I don't know if this is anything like you are looking for, but I 'frosted' these alphas just by using thick acrylic paint and letting it drip down as I held them upright

I have made card using my Copic markers then used stickles on top. I don't know if I have any in my gallery or not that I have done.

There's also something called Liquid Applique that you can get at LSS's or online. If you heat set it it looks just like frosting. http://www.marvy.com/product_details.aspx?ProductID=4 Here's a link of what it is & here's a card I made using it Happy Birthday By Danielle S

Kathie, here is a layout I did a while back using liquid applique. Just put it on and heat it up, it bubbles really quickly, don't overheat, it will turn brown.

you can also double up the punch with a darker color for a more 3d effect.

There are a few different products that you could use. Like mentioned before, Liquid Applique is great, but I can't buy it locally. Instead I use Puffy Paint by Tulip. You heat set it and it puffs up.
You can also add "sprinkles" like glitter to it before you heat it.

Dimensional paint...you squeegie it through a stencil, and take a heat gun to it to puff it. They don't sell it here, but have it at paperwishes dot com in lots of colors.

I love liquid applique, as Danni mentioned. I've also used it without heating it up. Then it has a really smooth texture. You can add glitter or beads to it for sprinkles, too.

I also use MS's drippy goo punch and then stickle around the edges ... it looks really cool when done

Thanks everyone for all your help & ideas!

I think I am going to try the dimensional paint(if I can find it) & also play around with my liquid applique.
I have some acrylic white paint Im going to do a test run on a piece of scrap paper & add a glaze to it after it dries & see how that turns out as well.

If anything turns out to be a WOWIE I'll be sure & post a pic!!
