I'm looking for a good circle cutter. I've heard that Fiskars version is not very good. I don't want to spend a lot of money on something that won't work

I have two that I like. I have the EK Circle Scissors. It's round and you use it with a self healing mat that is comes with the item. You can get a variety of about 120 circles. It's clear, with a slight smoky tint so you can see under it to make you center the item exactly where you want it. Some tips that may help you are to 1) use the mat that comes with it. The mat help your blade glide smoothly 2) You don't have to apply a lot of pressure 3) secure the item with tape so it doesn't slip and slide while you're cutting. I bought mine at the local Wal-Mart for about $15.
The next item I like is the Coluzzle. I started using Coluzzle a couple of months ago and find that it's very easy to use. They have a circle template, that makes about 8 different sizes of circles. The templates are clear so when you place it over your item you can see exactly what you're cutting. Make sure you use the Coluzzle blade and mat. The Coluzzle starter kit is about $20 and you'll have to buy the circle template so include another $7.50 so your initial investment will be about $28. However, the blade, mat, and template can be purchase separately at places like Michaels. If purchased separately the cost will be around $15.

Creative Memories has the absolutely best circle and oval cutters -- really easy to use too! I bought the Fiskars system this winter and NEVER mastered it at all. The CM system was so easy -- after my first class I knew if I bought nothing else from them these had to be mine. And now they are.

I just borrowed my MIL's set of Creative Memories circles and ovals for a week and I had alot of fun with them. CM works really great and it's easy to use. I didn't like having to use the templates though, and not being really familiar this tool - I wasn't always successful at guessing what size I was cutting.
I have Coluzzle's which I use on a regular basis. I do like the fact that when I put them down on a piece of paper I can see exactly what I am cutting. I have to say these are still my favorite.

I like my CM the best IF it has the size I need. Once in a while even with all 3 blades the size just isn't there. I also have the coluzzles and they are a close second but I can never get that little area that needs to be snipped to come out right. I do feel that since other shapes are avalible that the coluzzle knife and mat is a good investment. Anyone have an idea for making that small area turn out better?

I use my exacto knife for these and it seems to work just fine. I also have a small pair of scissors which I have used on occasion also.

My favorite by far is the coluzzle system. I have the Fiskars but I never use it since I can't seem to judge the edges of the cirle properly and things have more of a tendency to shift. But the coluzzle system will allow you to do more than just cut circles... there are templates for lots of other shapes and it can be used with the Accu Cut shapemakers.

I was thinking about buying the Fiskars system... good thing I read this first! However, I have used my sister's CM circle cutter and don't like it! It shifts around all the time, and then the end of the circle doesn't connect to the beginning. Any ideas on how to stop that? Ginger

Ginger - Are you talking about the old "tower style" circle cutter? I had trouble with it slipping too so added a piece of nonslip placemat to the bottom. I now have their new circle/oval cutter system and have never had it slip for me.
