Cricut Explore & Polyvinyl Covers

I am curious if anyone has ever tried to take a home made spiral bound polyvinyl cover and either write or emboss it with the cricut explore? I am working on a family recipe book and have tried everything to get a title on the front sheet of 16 Mil 8.5in x 11in polyvynil. I have heard of embossing pens and embossing powder combined with a heat tool, but that is more like glitter and glue. I tried using a free script design space font with the cricut, flair, sharpie pens and markers and for some reason they either don't show up or make the text appear blotchy. I even went so far as to try scoring the text with the scoring stylus or turning the blade upside down to try to emboss the text but nothing really looks right. Does anyone know how to make this work with a pen or a embossing stylus? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance!

I'm assuming you want to dry emboss your image/text. To get the look I think you want, you will need some type of padding on your mat. Cricut doesn't have an embossing mat, but you can make your own with an extra mat if you have one. Take craft foam and place it on your mat. Then spray the foam with repositional spray adhesive for your material. Then proceed with your embossing stylus. HTH

Thank you for your response! I am a little confused as to what would the embossing stylus be that you are referring to? Are you referring to the scoring stylus?

Thank you for your clarification of that however I tried that and for some reason it still is not making any notable indentation into the material. I did a conversion from 16 Mil to 0.4064 mm. So even if I use a 1 mm or higher thickness on custom that scoring stylus is still not making a deep embossing at all. At best, the stylus just makes very fine score lines, hardly anything that would constitute an meaningful emboss. This is using nearly TRIPLE the thickness based on that conversion. So I am beyond baffled.
