Same Background on Multiple Pages or Whole Album

I am getting ready to do 20 pages on a trip I took to Hawaii in 1984. I don't have that many pictures so each page would only have between 3-6 pictures. I was thinking about overlapping the pictures in a cluster and having a cluster of embellishments on each page. I am thinking about using the same paper for the background on all 20 pages. The paper that I am considering for the background is a pale green with light green palm trees from Me and My Big Ideas from 2004.

Has anyone ever used the same background for multiple pages on the same topic or for a whole album? Did you like it? Or did it drive you crazy? I would make sure to cover over half of the background on each page. I just don't want the pages to feel overwhelmed by the same background throughout. Thoughts appreciated.

I haven't done a whole album with the same background, but for a theme album, I think it might be nice. But I think it depends on the paper. You mentioned a palm tree print. I think a small, subtle print might work.

I should have mentioned that it is a small palm tree print. Trees are about 3/4 inch high repeating throughout the paper.

99% of my albums are themed ones. Each Disney trip, each birthday (mine, each one of my kids, friends, etc.), each Holiday, each vacation trip, etc. has its own album.
I love this way of scrapbooking because, when we want to see the pics of one specific theme or event, we just pick that album and they are all there. Some themes take more than one album (Disney, for example, has one album per park, per trip). At this moment I'm finishing an 8 x 8 about my daughter's naturalization ceremony, and a 12 x 12 about our trip to the Harry Potter park for my son's 2012 birthday.
I've never used the same paper as a background for an entire album but I think your choice will look very nice.

I think it would look very nice. I do large albums with lots of places but I generally do that for each place or port within the album.

I say go for it - could look very nice!

I some times use the same colored cardstock background for a set of LOs that are for the same event--usually something like Easter or time spent at my Dad's lake. I don't think I personally could do the same background for an entire themed album, but it would certainly make it easier to finish!

I checked some LO's and by the time I had the pictures, embellishments, and title on the page a lot less than half of the background paper showed. So I decided to go for it. Went and got the last of the paper Jo's had this morning. They had the exact number of sheets that I needed. Think I have decided to mat the paper in a beige/tan so that it looks like sand.

Since most of what I scrap is from my travels I try to tie one trip together somehow. This trip will be tied together by background paper, cluster of pictures, cluster of embellishments, and same font. This is the first time I've scrapped using a cluster of embellishments so this will be my challenge for these pages.

It will be a while before I can post anything on it. I'm still finishing up a road trip album from 2011. I'm just in the planning stages for the Hawaii pages. Then I have to figure out how to post to the gallery. LOL

Hawaii is fun to scrap! I've scrapped Hawaii more times than I can remember and always enjoy scrapping it again!

well i do both. it depends on which kind of album i am making, lots do like the same line but I realized as i have made my books....io prefer to have a different type on the next page.....it is a nice surprise on all my books

I did my baby shower pages all the same bg...because my family wore such outrageous colors n floral prints that NOTHING looked good except a basic gray bg with very pale mint green. I used the same sketch for each page...a great big horizontal banner, but changed up the photo n title placement
