Mod Podge: Paper or Matte?

Topic Closed

Well, today I am finally venturing out into the world to purchase some Mod Podge. I have been using generic decouapge gel for some time now, but today I am doing an adhesive run inpreparation for my back-to-school, post-Joann's-sale scrapathon. I was looking through the site here to prepare myself and I saw two kinds of mod podge: matte and paper. If I am using mod podge to glitter, seal, and alter, do I want to buy the "paper" mod podge or the "matter" mod podge? I'd really love your help!

And another question-- how strong is the bond mod podge makes? Can I use it to glue chipboard to paper for covering? Is it strong enough to hold chipboard to a layout? I use pray adhesive now, but boy is it messy... looking for a good alternative!

I've never used the paper mod podge. I use the matte and the sparkle. I think the paper is the only one that's acid free? Don't know for sure tho. The bond is strong- I use it to hold cs to clipboards, metal tins, etc but make sure to let the base coat DRY. Like use it as a glue to hold down the paper, let it dry and THEN do a coat over the top. I have found that if I get too much glue on top and bottom at the same time it doesn't dry and gets all wrinkly and bubbled up. When I use sparkle I usually put matte over the top of it to help keep the sparkle on- don't know if it's necessary or not. Glossy would probably be more sparkly. LOVE all the mod podge!

I've always used the Matte finish ModPodge - I just tried the glossy the other day and liked it.... never tried the paper kind though.

I bought the matte today because that's all walmart has. Would love to see someone's work with the paper variety! I even bought a couple of boxes to alter with it-- will post my mod podge adventures in the coming week!
