stamping an mirrored image?

Hi!
Saw something yesterday on youtube absolut creating a stamped mirror image, but I have no idea on how to do it.

Let's say that we have a critter of somekind facing left when stamped as usual, there is a way to use the same stamp but instead the critter will face right when stamping it this way.

I do not know what it is called, but maybe someone of you do and can tell me how to do it? I would really appreciate it!

I just searched the web for rubber stamping a mirror image and a lot of results for tutorials came up. You can stamp your image on a plain rubber stamp, wax paper, acetate, or use a brayer and then transfer the reversed image to whatever you want it on. One tutorial I read said that dye ink works best. I haven't tried it but I want to!

I have done this. I used a plain stamp a little larger that the design I want to stamp. You ink up the stamp, stamp it onto the plain stamp then stamp that reversed image onto where you want it to be. I found for me, the image came out a little lighter than the original. I used black dye ink and the reversed image came out a darker charcoal color, not black. But maybe it was my ink brand that caused it? I used Pallette Hybrid Inkpad...I think Micheal's carries them. But I have used this brand for years and really like them, lots of colors and they used to be a little better price than some of the bigger brands.

I've seen Jennifer McGuire show this technique before 2peas shut down. She uses a rectangular or square plain rubber mounted stamp to stamp onto. I've never tried the technique but it looks interesting.

I think I am going to try that...Just need a plain stamp base is all to use.

I did that with birds facing each other for an anniversary card. I stamped it straight onto an acrylic block, then took my paper to the block rather than the other way round. Press the paper down carefully without moving it, and peel back. Do the reverse image bird first, then you can see where to stamp the other one.

It works better with a plainer stamp. The more intricate the image, the more likely it is that any movement of the paper will show. Good luck!
