Tracing Paper vs Vellum

I was working with tracing paper today in a children's art class I teach and realized that it is more transparent then the vellum I have used and was wondering if anyone has used it in their scrapbooks. If so is it acid free, etc.?

I haven't seen tracing paper in ages. Not since I was in the 4th or 5th grade! (Ha, well, that's only about 15 years ago, I guess.)

You could test it w/ a PH pen & see for yourself! Let us know what you find out!

I have never used it in scrapbooks but I just used my Neutral 7 Acidic Identifier pen on a piece and it came out Neutral.

Thank you for testing it for me Tina C. I think it looks more sheer than vellum. The vellum I use must have plastic in it because when you heat it too long when embossing it starts to get bubbles where it is melting.

You are welcome. Oh yes some of my velum has really gone astray. 1 tip is to warm the velum from the bottom then place on to a piece of cardbourd wrapped in tinfoil then melt embossing powder rest of way. I do this for almost everything I heat emboss.

tracing paper is thiner, so it might tear more than vellum. in college i used to use it to cover my work, then i discoverd vellum and i actually liked that it was thicker, it also depends on the vellum you use as to how clear it is.

If the tracing paper works this could be a $$ saver! I just might have to try it out! Sometimes I don't like how thick vellum is, this might be a nice option. Thanks for the idea!
