Has anyone used a program called "Sure Cuts A Lot"? It apparently allows you to cut your true type fonts with your cricut machine. It looks similar to Cricut Design Studio, however this one works on both Windows and Mac!**Edited per board rules.

Never heard of it. Will be interesting to see if anyone has though. I wish cricut would come out with something where you could use the fonts on your computer.

"Sure Cuts A Lot" is an easy to use software to cut your True Type fonts and various shapes on your Cricut Machine. No special cartridges required. Works with your installed True Type fonts on your computer. Available for Windows and Macintosh.

That would be great if it really works. Anyone want to try it? There is a trial version. I have a Silhouette.

Although using it probably voids your warranty (in the PC fine print).

That might be the program on sale at AC Moore this week. I was looking at it tonight. It is $69 and hooks up to your Cricut. Seemed like all it did was something with the fonts, so it could be it.

people over on the cricut board are trying it out. so far, none have had luck with it. it all seems a bit weird to me...

i downloaded the demo and it cut fine, you have to update your firmware but then it seems to work.
It's not for sale in stores, it's just available for download, if you google it it should come up.

I just tried it out, assuming it'll cut alright if you have the correct version of firmware on your Cricut (which is not hard.. you can follow the directions to get that done), it only allows you to cut fonts (any Truetype fonts from your computer) and simple shapes from its library.

It'll work very well if you mainly cut titles and phrases..... if you need images, you'll still need the carts... I think.... at least on the mac version, it doesn't let you import images...

(I don't have a Cricut.. I just d/l the trial version of the pgm and played around with it...

It's not through Provo, they would lose too much money because you don't really need to buy cartridges anymore. It works really well though, I've been playing with it all morning. (And downloading loads of fonts!)

I cant get it to work, it says my cricut is not connected even though my firmware is updated

Thanks so much for mentioning this, I'd never heard of it! I was just about to put a Silhouette on my wish list but all I really cut are fonts so this *could* save me some $$!

I just downloaded it but still have to get my Cricut down here and see what happens.

Wow, this is HUGE news! I've been hoping that they would come out with a way to cut TTF with the Cricut. And it works on MAC? Even better! I can't wait to try this out tonight!

i've tryed this, but it keeps giving me the same awnser that the cricut is not hooked up and that did raise me a nother question, how does it worke when there is no cartridgs in it?!?! it say's that the trial version only cuts basic shapes, it didn't i even tried updating the software again, but no such luck!

What is a "True Type Font"? Can you download fonts from other sites to use this with?

I still haven't tried it yet but in theory...it is able to cut because it is connected to your computer via a USB port.

Don't know what technically *makes* something a TTF/true type font...but I do know that almost every font is one.

it's all the fonts that are in microsoft offise word. and every font downloaded to you computer

You do put a cartridge in it just to load the paper, but then you do everything else with the computer...

First off for those having problems. You need to also download "libusb" and the DesignStudio so you have accurate firmware. Just download the trial version of DesignStudtio.

I didn't like it. It was too slow. I got mine from craftedge.com

NOT all fonts are ttf, but MOST are. do a google search for 'free fonts'. dl them. THEN move them to your fonts folder.

HOWEVER, please note that if you have too many in your fonts folder, word, ps and other programs will take longer to load. (I keep two folders, and just move the font into the font folder when I want to use it.)

it never cuts quite as fast as with the cartridge but it does speed up once you get the full version

Just a warning I downloaded the trial and it totally screwed up my computer, and I did EVERYTHING it and the owner told me to, now I cant even upload pics to my computer I am using vista btw

You need to follow the directions exactly for the libbus download at the bottom of the page. After you click on it Don't just download it. Save it to your desktop and follow the directions. The first time I just downloaded it and it disabled all my usb ports.

the cricut.com people have a major feeling that PC is going to release this at CHA next week. Also some people are worried that when we do the update for DS for the new cartridges that the update will include a blocker for this program.

I did follow the direction exactly and trust me I am by far not the only one having problems.

oke so i now downloade the lbs?! stuff and now it's running. that leaves me withe a question, does anybody know if they are going to bring the software out on the market?! i have no creditcarts, so it's going te be hard for me to purches it online.

PC may do that, but I'm a Mac user, and it is highly unlikely that PC will make Mac software, when they didn't bother for the Design Studio.

I don't own a Cricut because I don't like the majority of the cartridges. But this software is making me reconsider my Sihouette so that I can use a Cricut more easily with my Mac, and still have portability for a crop (if I buy a cartridge or two).

yep. I'd bet their working on it if they don't have it already.

If provo crafts wants you to be able to cut any tt font, then THEY will come out with the program.

not sure if I posted it here, but I wouldn't update your firmware after this!
