Voiding Cricut warranty for mats

Topic Closed

What can you do to a Cricut mat to renew it's stickiness that won't void the warranty -

    Baby wipes?
    Soap and water?
    Detergent and water?
    Tape?
    Spray adhesive?
    Others?

i know alot of people use soap and water let dry..there is a forum on here saw last week on this...
  • Hdsue
oh thats what ive done so far is soap and water some people also mention using tape some use the adhesive i havent had to try that yet

Just wondering about this, what kind of soap did you use? Cause I washed mine with regular sort of hand soap (the super cheap kind that comes in the refil bottles) and it got rid of all stickiness and I had to spray it with adhesive to make it sticky again....

I dont think anything you do to your mat will void your warranty. The only thing I know of that they say will, is using the scal software.

And I have no clue, i tried using baby wipes and soap n water and nothing worked for me.

Using spray adhesive on you mats will void your warranty according to there site. Just thought I would share.

I'm just curious....what does the "warranty" offer you?

When mine aren't sticky anymore, I use a fat ZIG glue pen to apply more glue. I let it sit on the cabinet overnight, then it's as good as new in the morning.

If your Cricut breaks down, and you have to send it in to be repaired, if your warranty is voided, the repairs won't be for free.

Umm, I'm not quite sure why spraying your mat with adhesive would void your warranty. I guess I'm just wondering how are they going to know you made the mat sticky again unless you tell them?
  • DawnInAZ
The adhesive residue would be on your blade area, no?

I washed my mat with palmolive for sensitive hands,,,,

LOL, wouldn't recommend it,,,,,it has some lotion in it, I think, and it made it LESS sticky

so I washed it again in hot (not very hot) water, very very well, and it got sticky again,,,

with the price of mats being roughly 8 dollars for two mats at Walmart, it doesn't seem worth it to go through the trouble of re-stickying the mat with the adhesive IF it's going to void your warranty, IMHO. Not when you can get weeks and weeks out of a mat by washing it a time or two,,,

for 8 bucks a month, I'll buy the dang things,,,,,although I certainly understand wanting to save the bucks for supplies, Id rather not risk the warranty,,,,,

however, once the warranty is up,,,,,,what the heck How long IS the warranty anyway???

would be worth changing the blade and cleaning the housing really well before sending it in if you went that route,,,,grin,,,,Holly

OMG it makes perfect sense why the soap made it not sticky. I bet the stuff I used had lotion in it (*shakes head that I didn't think of that*) You're a genius Holly.

Just a quick FYI: The warranty is only good for one year anyway, so if you are outside of that time period they won't repair it for free.

Here is a blog link on resticking Cricut mats. A friend sent it to me but I've not tried it.

I bought my Create on EBAY for 155.00, new, but I'm nto sure you get a warranty on that anyway,,,

Thanks for the info everyone. I think I'll just wash and baby wipe until my year is over. I think I'll hide all the nonsticky mats and try to refresh them then. I mean my nonscrappy friends think I'm nuts anyway. If I start stacking up nonsticky mats, they'll really think I've flipped!
