Nestabilities questions

I'm loving the looks of those nestabilities dies and I hear I can use them with my Cuttlebug, so I'm thinking about getting a set or 2 in the fall. I've looked at them in my lss, and they look pretty thin. I'm assuming they are only for paper and cs? Would they cut cereal-box type chipboard? Also, I can't find any measurements on them. I'd probably get a set of circles and maybe a set of scallop circles so I could layer them, but not sure which sizes I'd want (small or large?) How large are the large?

Any tips for using them with the cuttlebug would also be greatly appreciated.

Also, I'm still working on my punch collection, buying a new basic shape every few weeks. Should I stop buying circle punches if I plan to get the nestabilities, or would I still find a use for the punches?

I have and love the nesties!! Yes they will cut thin cereal box chipboard. I made several albums using the labels 1 die. If you want you can glue 2 of the die cut cereal box pieces together (after you cut them) to make the piece more solid.

I still use my punches. My current sb space is small and its kind of a pain to get up from my workspace and go to where I have the Big Shot set up to diecut. Punches I can use right where I'm sitting...that said - I hope in September to clean out the room we were using for an office and make it a sb room...if/when I do - I wonder if I'll use my die cut machine more vs my punches.

I like punches for their quickness. Need a small circle, grab a punch, done!!! with the others, it is a process. So if ya have the money, still buy the punches you would use the most. Also, if you have a Hobby Lobby near, you can buy the Nestibilities there using the 40% off coupon. I only have the one set of scallop circles, 1 flower set and a butterfly set. I have never tried anything but pp and cs with them tho. As for the size, i have the Lg scallop circles and the largest is about 4 1/4 and the smallest is about 1 1/2. HTH- Trish

I love my nesties, I orginally got all the marvy circle and ovals and the scallop to match. Then I stumble upon a website that had fabulous prices for the nesties and I returned all my punches and bought all the nesties for the same price. I do agree with Trish that punch are more convient but space wise I like the nestie.
I have put all my nesties in a cd case and it will hold 2 complete sets.
Love Love Love them. Price wise it is much cheaper. HTH

What machines are they compatible with?

LOVE LOVE LOVE my nesties!!! I use them in the cuttlebug. I do recommend that you also purchase the embossing pads cause you are going to love the cut & emboss feature of them - so stinking easy to do!

I have cut cereal box thickness with them but have not tried anything thicker.

I have the large circles and scalloped circles among my collection. They go from about 1" up to 4" in size.

I too LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my nesties! I haven't cut chipboard with them yet, but I'm sure they'd work on a thin piece. Oh and here's how I store my nesties.

They are my favorite, and spellbinders just released a bunch of new pendant dies I want those too. For myself I prefer the small cirlces and large scallop, it gives a bit more border which I like but it doesn't make much of a difference. You can also use a plumbers mat from Lowes or a silicone baking sheet instead of a embossing mat but get something to do the embossing because it is great. You can also use the dies as a stencil for ink/chalks. I have over 20 sets and still want more.

Here is a flower I made with the scallop circles, the instructions are on Jen Lowes Blog (google it for the link). They are so much nicer in real life.

I haven’t had any issues yet with my metal dies shifting when moving thru my machine, but if you experience this, Spellbinders has already solved the problem with a magnetic pad!

TIPS:
Some tips I’ve discovered: When working with rubber stamped images, I find it easier to first stamp the image on cardstock and then place the appropriate die size I need on top of it:

I love my nesties! I have sold most of my punches because they store so much easier. I still like to have the circle punches though!

Nestabilities were one of the reasons I purchased my Cuttlebug!
Make sure you check out all the new release pendants, borderabilities, and the new dies that came out at CHA. GORGEOUS stuff! I've been playing with all the new labels a lot lately, they're awesome!

By the way, someone mentioned storing theirs in CD cases. I do that, too, but I put a couple strips of the self-adhesive magnetic "tape" in the cases to hold them in place. That's probably what she does as well, but didn't mention it.

Me too I got a adhesive magnet at the dollar store and I put strips in the CD cases to hold the dies in place. They will shift around alot if they are loose and it drove me crazy.
