paper for copic markers?

I know there has been a lot of discussion here lately about copics, and sorry to post another thread here, but I can't get the search function to work, and can't find the other threads.

I just bought 10 Copic markers from the art store and was wondering if I HAVE to buy special paper for them? What have people found works well as far as paper and cs?

Oh, and I'm LOVING the markers!!!!! I'm at work and had to try them out on computer paper, and even with them bleeding they look fantastic!!

I use Gina K's Pure Luxury cardstock...I think I got the 120lb. Its awesome, nice and heavy-doesn't bleed thru at all. I loveee my Copics-just bought s'more :-)

From what I gather, thought I haven't used them yet, you need a higher quality paper than normal. Some gals over at splitcoaststampers use special paper that manga artists use. I saw some if it at M's in the fine arts section, but don't remember the name. But there is Manga art on the front.

Based on a recommendation by Amy Rysavy (whose blog is Prairie Paper and Ink) I bought some C.C. Designs Copic Quality White Cardstock. It's awesome! Sooo much thicker than any cardstock I've ever gotten from a big box store. Aren't the markers addictive?

I like Gina K, too. I got some images from a friend that she had stamped on it and now I am addicted. The copics do not bleed AT ALL. This means that it is a bit harder to blend them, but I actually like that because then you have total control of where the colors go. It's not cheap paper, though. I think it ends up being around 20-25 cents per sheet of 8.5x11.

If the more expensive papers are not in your budget, the Georgia Pacific paper from Walmart (110 weight, NOT 80 lb) does pretty good. It comes in a pack of something like 100-150 sheets for $5-$6. It bleeds a little, but not much and is an affordable alternative. That is the paper I used on all of the copic-colored images that are currently in my gallery, if you want some idea of how it turns out.

I have heard that others use Paper Trey CS, as well. It's been compared to Gina K at some of the sites I've visited.

I have heard that some Copic instructors recomend the weyerhauser paper from the office supply section in the department stores.

I like Neenah cardstock.

Couture Cardstock just came out with a paper called "One Sheet Wonder' designed specifically for use with Copic Markers -- it was developed with Copic Instructor Sally Lynn MacDonald.

I've heard good thing about the CS at Papertrey also...although they do bleed thru a little. I guess the bleed thru doesn't really matter if you are cutting you image and adhering it to something. If you are stamping directly on the card then I'd want no bleed thru.
