The new name of our crop will be The Unofficial Neighborhood Crop. Scrapbook.com is not involved in the logistics of putting it on nor are they in charge of it or responsible for it. This is purely put together by a few neighbors in the 'hood!

We will have official dates in the next week hopefully, but it looks like it will be an all day crop on Saturday Feb. 21, 2003. Details are coming in, but we need to get them comfirmed first!

Okay, this has come up many times, but most recently in another thread.

Many people have stated to LaMissy and I that they would love to come down to Baton Rouge and crop. And I know everyone wants to get together. Well, Missy and I started talking the other day about the feasibility of this. And we are willing to try to get one together if ya'll want to come. So....

That said, if we were to do this, who would be willing to come? We were thinking maybe around Mardi Gras in Feb/March. Please let us know if you would be willing/able to come and we can go from there.

ooooh i would LOVE to go.. but as a broke college student.. i just don't think thats gonna be able to happen.. lol.. but have a comp at the crop and i'll log on and be there electronically!!

Yikes, Susan, it depends on so many things...finances, maternal state, husband's schedule.... I would love to come, but cannot commit at this time. If possible, a date in spring is better because of our whacky weather. I would hate to be held back by snow and ice.
It sure sounds like fun and I sure hope that I can come.

LIbby, the date is not a definate, we just thought everyone might want to experience the Mardi Gras atmosphere here. We are far enough away from the craziness, but close enough for ya'll to have a great time. We thought about the Mardi Gras theme with beads, king cake, etc.

OOOOOOOHHHHHHHH I would love to come - that covers the willing Now for the able - it would depend more on the date, finances, kids, work schedule . I haven't been to Baton Rouge - or Louisiana for that matter - so that would be a treat too. Be sure to let us know if you do end up doing it please

We REALLY want to do this. So, it is more than just an idea. We want to get one set up. Maybe even Jill, Charlie or McKane could come ( pushy, ain't I?). We would need an sb.com representative.

I would come to Baton Rouge, but not during Mardi Gras, been there done that, way to old to do it again. I'm in the same boat as Libby, Feb/March weather is bad to predict travel, how about later in the spring like April or May?

Mardi Gras is NOT an issue!! You can fly into Baton Rouge and the airport is five to ten minutes away from us. We are in north Baton Rouge, away from the major traffic and in a nice area.

The only Mardi Gras stuff here is in town and it is family oriented. We wouldn't be near it unless you wanted to drive to it. The big nasty Mardi Gras stuff is in New Orleans, about an hour away. We just thought of that time period because it works for us (it is a holiday here) and it would make a great theme and we could get King Cake as a treat. That is ONLY available druing Mardi Gras season.

I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to go. I would really really want to though! Our finances are strapped with dh's job being so slow, I know if I asked him, he'd give me that "What, you think I'm made of money?" look. Maybe the 2nd annual sb.com crop, like Angie said. Man, I envy those who are able to go, it would be so much fun!

I'd love to come. It's only 465 miles from Opelika! We're planning a trip to Disney World in late March though. Please keep me in mind when planning this thing. I'd try really hard to make it work out!!!

I'm only 5 hours of so from Baton Rouge. I was down there just the other day for the AR/LSU game. Which, by the way, LSU beat our brains in. Anyway, about the time....mardi gras time would be fun. I've been to mardi gras several times. But you also have to think about the finances and feasability of finding a reasonably priced hotel room during that time.

i might be able to come, if my hubby can get a route throug there, i wont know until it gets closer to the date though, and I will probably have to bring the baby, maby, if the company will allow that. we will see!! :-)

OH my gosh!! I am getting so excited!! Missy and I will get together and see what we can find out. We will get some things rolling here and keep you posted!! Ohhhh I am so excited!!

Mardi Gras is on Feb. 24th this year. I will have to see if we need to work with that for Missy to be out of school. They get Monday and Tuesday off here for Mardis Gras.

MMMMMM.... I would love to come... my problem is that I travel standby... so it may be difficult for me to come during Mardi Gras, but if those are the dates you decide on, I can try and find a way.

I talked to my daughter (BiHu) today (she is in classes and not online) and she was so excited!!

I am getting SOOO excited. Missy and I have been doing a bit of PMing with some plans. We will try to firm a few things up tonight and in the next day or two and let ya'll know.

Well, I'm totally in as long as there's some sort of scholarship program LOL! Seriously, it sounds so fun and I would love to get down south sometime, but financially we can hardly afford to go to Omaha (3 hours away LOL). So unless someone wants to pay my way . . .

I want to come, but can't in February. That weekend is DD's national baton competition in Orlando (at Disney's Wide World of Sports) Maybe you could do semi annual and do one in the summer. LOL

One in the summer would be great. Then us teachers would also have a better chance of being able to go. As of now, February won't work at all for me.

I have great big tear drops here because there is absolutely no way I could come during the school year. I tried to convince my husband he could truck over to the Robert Trent Golf courses in Alabama while I cropped with you gals but during the school year just doesn't work for us. We've been to New Orleans twice but both times were in July ---really, really hot but we loved it. Mardi Gras is tempting, too!

If I could get a general idea of costs once there, I would consider it. I'd just drive from KC...it would be like a 2-day drive, but probably still cheaper than airfare. Anyone wanna carpool, split a hotel room, etc??

I am planning to drive from So GA so if someone from GA or FL wants to share a ride, room, etc. I'm game. Angie my birthday is Feb 3rd so I will be counting this as my b-day present.

I might be able to come as well and would love to but Feb./Mar. wouldn't work for me cause I'll still be in treatment but May/June would be wonderful!! Is it REALLY hot down there then???

Downtown New Orleans is where you do NOT want to be. We are over an hour north of there. We do have parades here, but they are all family oriented and safe. None of what you see and hear about New Orleans happens here. And we are in a good area of Baton Rouge.
