Here is the homework...

You need a team name... a 2-3 word team chant... and to put both in your signature...

updated...there will be 18 members total and 3 groups of 6. WE will start this Friday. THis game will go 17 weeks.THe winner will receive 33 dollars in a gift certificate to Scrapbook.com The 2nd place winner will receive 22 dollars in a gift certificate to Scrapbook.com!

cost: $3 entry fee due by July 15th to aliciam
prize: Gift certificate to sb.com
1st place receives 60 percent of money collected.
2md place receives 40 percent of money collected

how to play: The game is a survivor based challenge in teams. Teams will be drawn from a hat. 2-3 teams. Every week there will be a weekly technique challenge. (challenges may be colorblocking, using b/w photos, fonts, rubberstamps, etc) Each team works toward creating as many layouts as posible using the technique. The winning team is the team with the most layouts. Example Team A creates 30 layouts using the technique of the week, Team B creates 32 layouts. Team b would win. Team A would then have to go to the immunity challenge. (immunity challenges could consist of things like cardmaking, tags, shaker boxes, etc.) Immunity winner would be the one who made the most or was voted the best. Polls? Then the members of that team would have to vote off one of their members. Immunity winner could not be voted off but still has the right to vote. We are looking at a July 16th starting date. You need to have your entry fee to AliciaM by July 16th so that we can form teams and notify players. Please also make sure to include on a separate piece of paper home address, screen name and real name.

A week in the life of a scrap challenge:
Friday morning the technique is issued. You have until Wednesday 3 pm central to get all layouts uploaded to the gallery. Layouts must have survivor listed somewhere on the layout information as well as their team’s name. Wednesday evening all layouts will be counted and on Thursdays losing team must vote off one member.Friday morning new technique issued , one less member playing. This is a change because we don't want Weekend scrappers left out. We are also going to have immunity challenges be sporadic instead of weekly...so the main focus will be on the layouts using the weekly technique.

Sounds like fun! But Sunday is my Sb'ing day so I don't know if I'd be able to get much done to contribute to my team during the week. I'll think about it though - you are so creative Jeanne!

what an awesome idea!! i love it!! but i will be on vacation for a week and will be letting my group down.. so i don't want to do that.. maybe once this round is over, it can be done again!!

I would love to do this....but I don't want to make that many layouts--that quickly. What about each person makes 1 and then everyone votes the the "team" with the most votes...wins for the best layouts???? Does that make sense?

I like Rhonda's idea of everyone on the team making one and then everyone votes for the best team. I also can't usually make that many layouts in that amount of time. And I'll also be on vacation that first week so I won't be able to play this time, but it's a really cool idea!

remember it's the whole teams sum...so you may actually only do two 2 page layouts...that's four for you right there...and adding to the whole count.....so if it's a 5 member team, and each member does 4 layouts that's twenty right there. plus I really want to keep it away from a popularity thing....though the immunity challenges will be set up like that....there has to be one that is purely nonjudgemental...

Jeanne, I agree. What's to keeps everyone from voting for themselves if we do it all voting? I think this sounds like a blast. I am going to try to find a way to upload my pages in the next week so that I can join.

hey guys another thing to consider....with the challenges you may not want a lot of layouts with all the same technique BUT as I see that many of you are not scrapping chronologically that shouldn't be a problem. while you may make 4 layouts with ________ in the album you probably won't put them all together side by side right?

and they don't necessarily have to be a regular member of sb.com so if they are registered on another mb and want to come over for this they can..... hey wouldn't that be funny...boards against boards!

I bet they could make a gallery for us if a bunch are going to play. They could put a "Survivor" folder under a category.

I am thinking about it. I will let you know.

What happens when, say, team A is down a player and team B has more players. Then team A will have to do more layouts per person to have a chance, right? Or is that part of the game? And how long (how many weeks) will this go on? It sounds so interesting. I'll be on vacation for the first week...otherwise I might join.

Uhmmm...I'm not sure if I'm this good yet so I'll watch this round and learn then maybe I'll join the next one. ----this is the point of the challenge...there will always be one technique given that you have to use. thats the requirements. say the first week we tell you fibers then you would need to have fibers somewhere on your layout for it to count. please don't feel overwhelmed or that you arne't good enough!

we are trying to choose things that are common sb items....or that are very inexpensive. we won't require something as specific as MM foam stamps....but we may say use stamps. we try to be somewhat general....there might be some things that you might have to purchase BUT we are not looking to break the bank here... whitewashing.....63 cents for a tube of acryllic paint.

I'm with Zazu. If I scrap, it's on Sunday. I would join, but I'm not gonna get any LOs done before the Sat deadline, and I don't want to let my team down. Sounds cool though, it will be interesting to watch!

What if it ran Wednesday to Monday? That would give full weekends for work, any "necessary shopping" that might come up.

As far as not knowing a technique or having the supplies, I think this is where team communication would be a must so the rest of the team could pick up the slack. Just as the real survivor some are stronger than others.

I think this is a wonderful challenge and incredible motivation to get some work done.

OK, ladies, check out the original post again. Jeanne and I have chatted and don't want you Sunday scrappers to feel left out. How do those days sound to you? Any extra takers now?

This is an attempt to get you creating layouts that have techniques you may not have originally tried. This is to get layouts done and have fun! Don't panic, team support will help.

Jeanne has added names to the original post of the players who have signed up so far! Come on ladies, take the challenge!

So it would be one LO a week? Or as many as possible in the week. is it you against people on your team or people on the other.

I only own two little stamps... and if you used those stamps they would qualify that layout to count. IF stamps were chosen that week, all layouts you submitted to count for your teams total would have to have some form of stamp on them.

Wait the Lo's are against teams and the iimmunity is against team members, right? the layouts all count for a sum...the team that has the most layouts completed total among it's teammates wins the immunity for that week. the losing team must vote off a player of thier own.
What's white washing? white washing is a technique where you use white paint watered down to create a washed effect. It's an aging technique, and a way to change the style of a cs or pp to create a new effect. Kind of like paper crumpling...or inking.
So by the end of it all we should AT LEAST have 9 layouts done? hopefully you will have more than 9 layouts done. 9 would be the minimum. of course if you are voted off then you are out of the game.

btw when challenges are posted you can always find links for your teammates over specific techniques....plus we can find stuff as well.....how tos....we can build up the Brazzill Cardstock while we are at it!

Ok, I've been reading this thread off and on today, and after stewing....I want in. If nothing else, it will help me to get some layouts done.

I'm in for sure, girls. I've only seen Survivor a couple of times, so I'm going to need step-by-step directions for the rules.

Count me in!! I don't think I'm very good and am unfamiliar with a lot of the "new" techniques but hopefully I'll have a helpful team. . . This just sounds like too much fun!!

This will probably be a great excuse for me to learn a few new techniques and try some new things. . . How exciting!!

Jeanne, I was wondering about the "popularity" thing myself. Good thinking.

I was also wondering....what's to stop people from making them now and getting a head start? You can always add whatever the challenge is to the layout after the fact. Like stamps, fibers, paints, embossing, etc.

I was going to join until I thought of that. NOT that I think you wonderful people would cheat. LOL Just a thought.

rhonda- you are right...someone could try to cheat. we just have to trust them. besides, if they aren't loading them into their galleries won't it be obvious that they aren't doing it?

canidice it seems like there are two or three considering who are in the same position as you....maybe your team can cover you? it's your call! I would imagine that your vacation would bring lots of scrapportunities hence lots of things to scrap when you return hence a larger number of layouts you could put out when you return?
