It's Friday, time for another heritage challenge page. Today's challenge was to scrap a famous person you might have seen/met, an autograph, a famous place you visited, etc. I chose to talk about the 3 times I saw President Reagan as a young college student. I did not even own a camera so all of these photos were found off the internet. Why didn't someone buy me a camera for a graduation present? (LOL)!! My journaling reads: "What fond memories I have of college and the 1980's. I voted for the 1st time at age 18 in 1980 for Ronald Reagan. He came to Ashland to campaign, and I saw him for the first time at Ashland High School. Then, I went to Liberty in August, 1980. Dr. Falwell was a huge supporter of the values Ronald Reagan stood for and platformed on. I was thrilled when he was elected President in November, 1980. Liberty sent bus loads of college students to Washington DC in January, 1981 to see President Reagan's inauguration. I didn't even own a camera but I was there in that crowd of people, thrilled to see our next President and to catch a glimpse of him in the motorcade. He stood for what I believed in as a newly-voting, young American. Several months later, I was again privileged to see President Reagan as he came to our college campus. I will never forget the excitement of being in Liberty's marching band and playing "Hail to the Chief" as President Reagan stepped out of his limousine and on to our campus. What an honor it was to be part of history!"
