I took this photograph of my father last Christmas when he wasn't looking, and I think it's one of my very favorites of him. He's deep in thought, probably thinking up some wise crack to use the next time someone asks him what he thinks about something. He's 81 in this photo, and I count every minute that he is here as a special blessing.

Happy Father's Day, Daddy. This layout is just for you!

The June Swirlydoos kit was the inspiration for the skeletal bones of this layout, but there are also a lot of bits and pieces from previous kits. I think the blue lace die cut paper was from my very first kit ever - and I still have three little squares of it left for one last little project.

This will be my project for a couple of challenges.

1. The ABC Challenge,Round 3, Letters GHI.

G - Glimmer. I used MoonShadow Mist in Buccaneer Bay Blue on the Dusty Attic flourishes and the residue from my splat mat was enough to color the two little tags too. I also used some Magical Mica - Green - on the silk leaves to bump up the shine for those. And finally I applied some Perfect Pearls to the misted flourishes to give them a little more pizzazz.

H - Heritage. Most of what I know to be true, what I think as a matter of principal, and what I believe in spiritually, is from watching my dad. I read a quote somewhere, "My father did not tell me how to live. He lived and let me watch him do it." That is so true of my dad. He's been a wonderful example to his children, his grandchildren, his church family, and his entire community. His life inspires me, and I hope that when I'm 81 years old, I'm half as respected as he is.

I - Indigo Blue. What a GREAT color to play with!

2. The Monochrome CHallenge, Week 3, Indigo Blue. Twisted "The Man I Call Dad."

I love how this whole layout came together. I did not have it planned when I set up the challenge. I did not even HAVE a plan until I opened my Swirlydoos kit for June and the die cut clock came out of it. Once I cut that, the rest of it just kind of happened.

Thanks for peeking at my work, and if it's inspired you at all, go find a dad and give him a big hug and a thank-you.
