My mother gets these around her house, and they can be quite destructive. They tore a hole through the shingles and tar paper, through the wood right into the attic. Another time, they knocked out the soffits, climbed in and built a nest. Because it was sloped, we found about 20 smashed eggs on they ground where they rolled right out of the nest and fell about 10 feet to the ground. Not the brightest of birds!
The apt complex my dd used to live in had these ducks. Some of them had combs on their heads like a rooster. The complex manager was very protective of those ducks too.
