it is probably a sacred old tree but even so Buddhists love every living thing and so they would not cut the tree down but build around it - perhaps it is a shrine to nature? I don't know that much, just enough to imagine that. I love the colours for this set of layouts.

What a exotic and beautiful place. It looks like a quiet place to reflect. Those golden statues are breath-taking. You even managed to get a couple of the monks. They are camera weary. Well done on this.

Our next stop of the morning was to a Buddhist temple. We took off our shoes, and for a nominal fee, Marge, Jan and I went inside while Bill roamed around outside taking pictures.

There was a old tree in the middle of the center courtyard that had been encased in a building structure. I am not sure why the structure was around the tree. Buddha statues and monuments were everywhere.

It looked as though you could walk around the tree on the upper level but I'm not sure about that - we didn't see anyone walking around on the platform.
