You will love this new way to craft with the Spellbinders BetterPress Letterpress System. This system is very easy to use and creates images that look as if they have been letterpressed. This amazing system includes a Chase, a Platen, three shims, BetterPress Cotton Card Panels, a roll of yellow Best Ever Craft Tape, BetterPress black ink, and a BetterPress Press Plate with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and the sentiment "to my favorite person". The Chase is the main piece that comes with a magnetic platform to hold the press plate and three shims that go underneath the platform. The platen is the clear top plate with the grids for card sizes to which you attach the card panel. The BetterPress Cotton card panels measure 4.25" x 5.5", you get five sheets each of three colors, Porcelain, Bisque, and Pebble. The Best Ever Craft Tape measures 0.625" x 180". This BetterPress System can be used with leading manual die cutting machines including the Big Shot, or the Spellbinders Platinum and Platinum 6 die cutting machines (all sold separately).
Learning how to use this system is relatively easy. You simply place the three shims on the base of the Chase and layer the magnetic insert over the shims. Place the BetterPress Press Plate on the Chase, using the registration lines to determine the correct placement. Place your card panel on the underside of the Platen and use the Best Every Craft Tape to secure it in place. Open up your BetterPress ink pad, and lightly tap the raised ink pad across the Press Plate, making sure it is well-inked. Align the Platen to sit on the four corner spring pins on the Chase, but do not press down. Place your sandwich into your manual die cutting machine and run through. Carefully remove your sandwich and then remove the card panel from the Platen. If it does not have enough ink, simply repeat the process. You can now color your image with your favorite crafting mediums and finish making your card or other paper crafting project.

Like many serious crafters on a limited income, I struggled with the temptation to buy this new Letterpress system. SO VERY GLAD I BOUGHT IT! Once you purchase this you can buy all the inks and papers and impression plates Spellbinders offers (which I did) but I have discovered that my hot foil plates work here also. Just remove the 3 shims located under the magnetic plate to accommodate the thickness of the hot foil plates. And Ive located letterpress paper in a multitude of beautiful colors online. So pleasesupport Spellbinders but also know that you are not limitedto their small assortment of letterpress supplies. This kit was worth the $$$😍

I really enjoyed Simon's video of the use of the new letterpress. I was impressed with how sharp and clean the images came out and how foolproof it looks! The cardstock looks like such good quality as well. Very impressive. Will be anxious to try this new system. I do have the Glimmer so will have to compare functions.

I love my BetterPress! I am very happy with the result I got . I have tried using ranger distress ink with it and it still printed beautifully. The engraving was spectacular . When I printed my flower plate it came out so nice that it left me speechless. The black ink that came with my bundle is nice and very dark and the result is spectacular. I would recommend it to anyone who create cards. They will be impress. The price for the bundle is very reasonable.

As soon as my Betterpress arrived, I immediately compared Betterpress to "letterpressing" with a stencil. No comparison. Apple-oranges. The fine detail of Betterpress can not be achieved with a stencil. This is elegant, fun and achievable.

No learning curve needed!! Beautiful the first time. I got another die in addition to the floral included and both are great. I just wish they’d get some more dies. I put my name on waiting list for butterflies right away but still have not been notified that they are in stock. Would like something besides all the florals and sentiments.
I highly recommend this product. I’m sure a lot more dies will be coming.

I'm doing something I rarely do... review before I use. This company (Scrapbook.com) made this available at least $10 lower than the going rate at all the other outlets. Then they gave me 8% off and I got two free products with it at the site's prompting. So I think I paid about $16 less for this than at other sites, got free shipping and got two free products. How does a person turn that down? I've watched many videos and all have said that there is virtually zero learning curve and that products turn out super-well. I hope that will be the case.

This system has great results when using heavy saturated ink pads. It is fun to experiment with varying card stock. I know some crafters say you can do a second pass through your die cutting machine if the first pass is not bold enough, but my results was a blurred outline- double image.
Just be aware that results vary if you want to press an image twice.
I watched many YouTube videos before making the plunge. I'm glad I did as this worked perfectly right out of the box. I'm thrilled that it works with the Glimmer machine as well-it did a better job than the glimmer plates.

I received my BETTERPRESS and have used it several times. What I discovered on the use was that if you clean the dies in between crafts, you have to make sure that the dies are dry - if not, your lines will run and you will not get a crisp image. Also, I am not sure if BETTERPRESS will come out with replacement plates. When you use the press, it does leave image on the front plate. Also, what solution can you use to clean your BETTERPRESS bottom plate? On an aside, I used inks with water to color the image and it turned out beautiful. The BETTERPRESS does allow different mediums to be used and there is no running of your ink. It’s very easy to use for beginners. Great product and I’m glad I ordered.

I love the ink print quality that I am getting with my Betterpress. My question is about the depth of the imprint into the cotton paper. My machine is producing little to no imprint. What do you suggest that I adjust to get the proper depth of the design? Add another shim? tia

Without knowing what machine you are using, it is hard to help you. Make sure you are using the shims that came with the BetterPress. If you are, my best thought is to try adding additional shims on top of the clear plate of the BetterPress while running it through your machine. A sheet of printer paper can be a good shim added on top of the clear plate. If that helps some, you could try it with two pieces of printer paper. Just experiment, I'm sure you'll get it! :)
