Love the Tim Holtz layering stencils

Another great pattern for my collection! Great for use with inks, modeling paste acrylic paints…. I love having lots of patterns on hand and use them for nearly every project.

    sticks stencil

I'm kind of new to stenciling, I'll admit, but I had a few problems with this stencil. I tried it first with markers, and even with my best efforts to keep the stencil flat I had bleed-under, or whatever you call it when the color does not stay 'in the lines'. Had the same problem with a spritz. I suppose this problem might be solved by using my stencil spray, that's supposed to hold the whole stencil against the card stock. However, I really didn't expect this problem with the markers. I next tried chalk and had better luck. I made an even greater effort to hold the stencil down while I was working, and it is by far the best looking of the three. Just looking at the picture of the stencil it comes across as a "random" pattern, but it's not. It's actually quite 'uniform', with only two different rectangles offset from each other. For whatever reason, the pattern looks much more blah to me when actually on cardstock, in whatever medium. That may just be my personal taste, however, as I prefer random patterns.
