My son isn't in school yet but he loves to learn. He's known his letters by sight since he was 18 mos. and at 2 he can already count objects. When I saw the September Contest to do a school themed page with shaped paper I thought, "wouldn't it be neat if you could cut out ABC's along the edge of your paper." so I decided to try it and when I saw it was working I just couldn't stop myself. The Mini book has covers from the 1st 5 books he has learned to "read" (aka memorize). You can see it opened in a separate photo I uploaded. The star ribbon was the last thing I added and since the contest required some sort of stitching I stitched the ribbon with yellow thread at the corners and blue thread in the middle. The bus is a wooden and felt bus I got from Michael's. Bus was one of the first words he learned so he used to always point them out and yell, "Bus!", when we were in the car.
