In the Spring of 5th grade, my dd's school's English teachers submitted stories the kids wrote for class assignments to an organization that chooses student work for publication. In the Fall of 6th grade, we found out that 6 of our students were chosen to have their stories published in the 2008 edition of the Anthology of Short Stories by Young Americans. My dd was one of them. For this LO, I have included a photo I took of the book, the article from the school newsletter, and a reduced copy of the letter the company sent us to request permission to print her story.

I didn't want white on this LO, so when I made the reduced copy of the letter, I printed it on grayish cs. For the newsletter article (they sent the newsletters as PDF's that year), I printed the page with the article on gray also, but that made the faces in the photo look odd, so I printed it a second time on white. I cut the whole article out of the gray cs, and only the photo out of the white copy, which I mounted on top of the gray with foam tape. I stamped the 'coffee stains' with Coffee Shop GM using a cup.

This is my example for my September Four Categories Challenge - Category Four ~ Theme: Back to School. The twist is to include an apple on the page - I have a wooden apple near the top and an apple flash card.

This is also for the VLB Challenge - A Is for Apple.
