A fun layout I did to get back on the horse after taking a break from scrapping..(post HOF entry burnout! lol) All papers are making memrories,as are most of the products…the picture is printed on textured cardstock…the journaling reads:When I sit down to scrapbook I have a certain routine I follow. It all starts with channeling the essence. That’s right, you read correctly. I channel the essence. Now before you call the loony bin and have me hauled away, let me explain. I think every scrapbook artist has at least one person they look to for inspiration, someone who makes their creative wheels turn in ways they didn’t know they had in them. For me that person is Heidi Swapp. I am constantly amazed at the things she comes up with, and how she finds ways to incorporate the everyday into her layouts and projects. Channeling the essence is what I refer to as my way of finding creativity. Because I am drawn to Heidi’s work, I lovingly coined my obsession; I mean admiration, into the term known as channeling the essence of Heidi Swapp. This is when I try really hard to be creative like her, in the hopes that all of my pages turn out fabulous. Sometimes it works. Other times? Well, we all have bad days, right?I have bought shirts, shoes, purses, all because they remind me of Heidi Swapp’s style. These are the mental tools that aid in the channeling process. I thought briefly about taking up marathon running, as Heidi is a runner. Surely if I run, I will gain inspiration and creativity. I quickly discovered I would stick with the shoes and accessories. Running is hard. I tried shopping at Anthropology, she told me she loves the store..maybe that is the key to creativity. Alas, my butt was too big, and my wallet was too thin. The lesson learned? Talent like Heidi’s can’t be duplicated. She is the scrapper I want to be when I grow up. She may think I am complete nut case,(if she didn’t before, if she sees this page, she will!) but I have to thank her for being the motivation to push myself out of the box as a scrapper. She is an inspiration to me not just because she can scrap the socks off of anyone, but because she is a nice person. I have to wonder if I were in her shoes, would I be as tolerant of the fans as she is? I have never seen her be anything but gracious and genuine. Anyone can see she loves what she does, and she has a passion to share her hobby with all of us. Wacky or not, I think channeling the essence is a good thing. If I can even gain one ounce of her ambition and talent, maybe I am not so crazy after all. Before anyone calls the authorities, or alerts Heidi that she may need a restraining order…lol I am a stable and balanced person, just having fun…although the journaling is correct..lol I am sure I am not hte only one who feels this way about this great scrapper…ok, maybe I am the only one who is this far gone! lol:0 anyhoo…thanks for looking:) Miley
