Beautiful, nostalgic page Natalie! Love how you included dried flowers into the design, it adds such a real touch to the photo, as if the embellies belonged to the time it was taken! A fave!!
You can see how much love and thought went into this page! Such a nostalgic fun photo, you've scrapped it beautifully, straight to the faves for me! love it! xo
Oh, Natalie, you definitely achieved your goal of capturing a summer day in 1946. Can you imagine the joy of having the war over? My parents married in June of '46 and I can so easily relte to the mood of your lovely LO!
You've done an amazing job with your layering here! That sunny summer warm afternoon you sought to accomplish is evident. Such a perfect background for that wonderful photo. It's really cool the way the postcards peek through that little frame. and the plants and flowers are so nicely balanced where you placed them. I just LOVE this!
Heartwarming pic and presentation. Love the dried flowers and fern. Back in '46 women did not wear "pants" - funny looking back at the fashion of the day. Give me casual clothes anytime! (I have been experiencing serious WIFI connectivity problems for the past month. Sorry for the late response.)
I always love your layouts, Natalie, but I think this has to be the best yet. You totally captured the feeling of a happy warm outdoor occasion. I absolutely love the way you used the inks, sprays, molding paste, and stencils to create texture and the colors are just wonderful. Your use of ferns, flowers and grasses are perfect and most definitely convey the look of a grassy meadow. The photo is something to be treasured forever. I love the way everyone is so relaxed and happy and I adore the vintage clothing. What more can I say? Your layout is sheer perfection.
Your arty style truely amazes me, as does your way with words and how you manage to capture every feeling in the photo...you have done that perfectly! Again, I love all the texture and layers in your design, and the cluster of fern leaves daisies and butterflies is outstanding...really love this!!
This is classic and beautiful. I love how the LO is as casual and organic as the photo and yet you worked in so many advanced level techniques. I totally see everything you were going for and trust me you really set the scene and told this photo's story here. This LO is gorgeous and I hope I can make something like it someday!
Wonderful memorable photo. You really captured the feel of where they were having their picnic in the meadow. They dressed up for even the simplest things like this picnic back then. Nice work!!
Oooo this is beautiful Natalie~ SO rich with warm summer color and texture! Your vintage sense of detail is so unique and eclectic; I find myself truly enraptured in your l/o's!; they are all beautiful : ) Thanks for sharing~
My entry for the July Scrap Around the World challenge.
The layout features an old photograph of my parents and my uncle and aunt. The occasion was a picnic housewarming celebration for another aunt and uncle who were recently married. My parents are in the middle of the photograph, and although my Mom turned her head at the wrong moment, I just love the way her hair drapes over her face! And look at the clothes! White bucks, pressed trousers and tie on my uncle, and lovely dresses with pearls on the women! Who would wear clothes like that at a picnic now days?!
I tried to capture the feel of a summery, warm afternoon, relaxed and happy atmosphere. I began by working on my background with inks and sprays, building up layers of color slowly to achieve a vibrant yet soft atmosphere. (if that is possible?!) Then I added molding paste through various stencils and applied more colors. The photo was layered over different postcards and papers. I used dried and pressed flowers, ferns, weeds, grasses, pods, along with some fussy cut elements and bits of crochet to embellish the page and give it that rich, summer feeling of a grassy meadow.
Many thanks to all who may look at my page and leave a comment. Please know that I appreciate this so very much!
