Your pages showing the dances are beautiful. Your photos tell the story. I also have 2 granddaughters, Alexis-9, and Maegen-6 in classes. Alexis is also on the competition team
Oh my gosh Lisa - this is gorgeous! You really do such a beautiful job with these dance layout. They are perfect! The girls looks so nice in these costumes - and I love the flourish you added! What beautiful dance albums you are making!
In 2012, my dd was in 8 dances in her studio's recital. These are the formal group portrait and the dress rehearsal photos for Intermediate/Advanced Ballet, one of 2 ballet dances she had in this recital. She's 15 here. The girls danced to More Than a Feeling by Boston.
I always do a single page LO for each of her individual portraits that I try to match to the costume and song and a coordinating 2 page LO for the group portrait and action shots from the dress rehearsals. (I'm part of the stage crew for the shows, so I can only get photos at rehearsal - hence the casual state of the girls' hair and makeup, occasional lack of full costume and smiles, and sometimes, poor lighting. These aren't performance photos.) I decided back when she first started having multiple dances in the shows not to try and reinvent the wheel each time, so they all have this format - group shot on the left and action shots arranged across the rest of the 2 pages with pp and embellies that match the single portrait LO. When I have them, I like to include photos of the girls interacting with their instructor and/or each other in the theater during the rehearsal along with photos of the actual dance. There are 12 photos on this LO. You can see the single portrait LO for this dance as well as my other completed dance LO's in my Dance LO Album in my Gallery. The group portrait was taken by Cass Photography.
This costume is brown and deep burgundy. The bodice is velvet with a tie dye type pattern, and there is a matching strip of velvet that the girls tied in their hair. The lighting was poor during this run through at rehearsal, so the photographs printed really red no matter what I did to try and edit them.
This is my example for my October Four Categories Challenge - Category Three ~ Technique: Multiple Photos. Players must use 3+ photos on a one pager or 6+ photos on a two pager, but to earn the twist, it's 5+ and 10+. I have 12 here for the twist.
This is also for a VLB Challenge to use fall colors on a LO.
I fussy cut the braid from a piece of pp. In the journaling box, I wrote the class level, day & time of the class, the names of the girls in the dance, and the instructor's name.
