  • Pros and Cons (11 July 2007)

    PROS:

    1. You can cut any TrueType font that you have installed on your computer. No extra cartridges to buy for each one.

    2. It cuts 8.5 wide and up to poster length (if you have the mat to handle it)

    3. It cuts clipart files and dingbats that are also free online.

    4. You can literally draw your own designs on the screen and then cut them repeatedly. Great for doing multi cuts needed for online swaps.

    5. There is a huge online resource of Wishblade owners that share thousands of beautiful files with each other for free. Even a Wishblade forum right here at sb.com for sharing files and questions.

    CONS:

    1. It's a bit more difficult to learn than plug-n-play. Requires enough computer literacy that some owners have given up.

    2. It is NOT quiet. It grinds and groans while cutting, so beware the noise.

    3. Since it requires a computer to run, it may not be a good take-to-the-crop sort of tool.

    4. Cutting welded words (like joined cursive scripts) can be done with an extra free program, but requires even MORE computer saavy than is probably worth it for regular Wishblade owners.

Vanessa Ruiz paper piecings (11 July 2007)

are just awesome. Although I usually like to print my e-cuts on matte photo paper, I print all the designs by Vanessa right onto white Bazzill cardstock (just trim to 8.5 inches wide first). The texture looks so realistic that it appears as if you did all the paper piecing yourself. Her 4th of July design also looks spectacular when printed on Bazzill. I love the ease of e-cuts in general when going to all day crops. I was able to do over 15 double page layouts in a ten hour period because I used e-cuts. Love 'em love 'em, and can't wait to see more new designs!

  • Occasionally needs de-gunking (11 July 2007)

I love this adhesive dispenser. I haven't had any of the usual problems with things coming un-stuck and then floating around under my page protector. The refills are a bit tricky to install the first time, but the instructions are included in every refill box. My only problem with this dispenser is that it occasionally needs to be de-gunked with some Un-Do when it doesn't wanna roll smoothly anymore. After that fix I'm usually good to go again for at least 3 re-fills before I gotta do it again.
