I received this item as a prize for one of the challenges hosted by Scrapbook.com and was incredibly impressed by the quality of the paint!
Normally, this would be a bit out of my price range since I don't use watercolor all that often. Also, it didn't seem like I was getting much bang for my buck. I was totally wrong! I will definitely be purchasing the other watercolor sets when the opportunity arises because I am that impressed by the quality of the product and I will definitely want to paint more because of it.
I would rate this more of a 4.5 than a 5 due to the packaging; the watercolors come in a cute and handy tin, but due to its incorrect sizing, the paints are not secure under the tin lip or the casings they paint is actually nestled in. I only mention this due to the product being marketed on the Prima website as "sized perfectly for the artist on the go." I would not feel confident in its ability to hold up under casual travelling conditions on its own.
The paint, however, is awesome! This is, by far, the most superior watercolor product I have used. I have used several other brands and the difference in quality was immediately evident. The product is small, but it will last. It is richly pigmented and a very little goes a very long way. The colors are beautiful and it is definitely worth the price. I would definitely recommend this for those who enjoy playing with watercolors.
I love the confections. I have all three sets ( Tropicals, Basics, and Decadent Pies). The colors are so much more brilliant and bright in person, the quality amazing and the carry tin is user friendly. Plus the price at SB.com is fabulous.
I have heard some say the packaging is small - yes however the paints are so richly pigmented that they will last sooooo much longer than many other watercolors. The colors are far nicer too. I have other watercolor sets and these are far superior.
It's NOT about the size of the package but the quality m pigmentation and color of the product. Others need to have bigger packages because they need more product to get all the pigmentation needed to get decent color. These are better
These are beautiful to use. I love the colors and they are easy to use. If you are looking for Water Colors these are for you.
I love watercolors by Prima. The quality is wonderful and I love that some of the colors have a soft but beautiful shimmer in them.
The colors and quality are super- with one exception: the shimmery grey and white and guava and pretty colors but so light that I find it difficult to see any pigment from them while painting, which is annoying.
