Simple and cut great. I thought I had an oval stencil, hunted for it for days with no luck finding it. So I took the plunge and ordered these. The idea of having the oval cut precisely (scissor cutting can work, but always seemed to have wonky cut edges) with smooth, clean edges is a game changer! I love that it comes is so many sizes = so many uses. Another great product, purchase from here.
I am very happy with the nested oval and nested circle dies. I have just recently started using a mini die cutter and am very happy that these dies fit and serve my needs. I like having this smaller set of ovals, which look very sturdy and well-done. The cutting edge is in the middle of the oval rings.

Will these thin metal dies work in a Sizzix Big Shot machine without any additional layers in the sandwich other than what comes with the machine?

Will these dies cut leather? If yes, what is the maximum thickness they will cut?

These dies are made of thin metal and cut paper beautifully. They were not meant to cut leather. We suggest trying the Sizzix or Spellbinders steel rule dies to cut any thickness of leather. They were meant to cut heavier products like chipboard, fabric, foam, leather and so much more. Sizzix calls them Bigz Dies - link Here is the Spellbinders link to Steel Rule Dies... link I hope that helps.
