need help with a water effect

I'm working on a mini chipboard album and I'd like to create a water spout or other water effect for the cover. The theme of the album is my gs's first visit to a water park. If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it. I've tried searching and couldn't really find what I was looking for.

I'm not sure quite what you mean by a water spout - I always thought those were tornadoes over water. But try googling images "water spout whale" - I got some cute designs which could be pretty easily reproduced.

You can also get water splash dies - Sizzix do a wave one but I don't think it's on here. I think it's just called "decorative swirl" but it does look a lot like a wave. I've seen it layered to look like lots of waves.

I saw a great effect on a kids show on how to create a realistic flat waterfall. They used those large salt grains at the bottom of the waterfall. They did the base paint and poured the salt grains on the wet paint and used watered down paint over it. Kinda like a dripping effect. After he was done, he removed the salt grains and the effect was there. he used different colours of blue's and aqua's to create the natural colour of water.

Lunie, check out the Cosmo Cricket Salt Air collection. It's discontinued here but they have some papers with 'splashes' on them. You can fussy cut them like IzzyB did in this LO:

You can fussy cut them like IzzyB did in this LO: Splash By IzzyB You can also use mist or paint to create a water splash effect. Can't wait to see what you do!

Try adding some epoxy elements, transparencies, glitter, Stickles, bling or such to add to the watery look...especially those that are 'clear' or blue.

Rain dots used to have some that were water splashes, as well. You could also use glossy accents to give a shiny effect that mimics water.

and here are a couple popular water punches,

PS you can even try a little clear nail polish to build up a glossy look. This "glossy accent" stuff you buy is thicker.

A die that cuts paisley shapes would be great for making water splashes too.

I used some epoxy rain dots one time, heart-shaped ones for a layout in my Book of Me about loving rain. They were supposed to be clear, but had a slightly yellow tint. I love rain, not pee.

But if you like epoxy stickers, rain dots splashes in blue would probably be perfect.

Drop a rock into a bucket or tub of water and take a close-up picture of the resulting splash. Use that photo as a background to which you can add other embellishments. Just be careful not to get the camera lens wet.

You could also use a plain sheet of glass or acrylic to catch the splash up close (covering the camera lens), and take a picture of the drops that form on the glass. Try using a piece of the clear plastic packaging that comes with many products.
