Problem w/Marvy Uchida punches?

Has anyone else had a problem with their Marvy Uchida punches? I just bought a Mega Scallop Square punch like 2 months ago, and this weekend I went to punch a piece of cardstock and the punch broke. It's weird, it will still push the punch part down, but not far enough or hard enough to punch through paper. It was a thick piece of cardstock that I was trying to punch out, but I've punched that kind before and it worked fine, so I was shocked that it broke. At first I thought it was my fault, that I shouldn't have been trying to punch that kind of cardstock (and just got lucky the times before), but then I read in a newsletter from an online store that I subscribe to (not sb.com) something about they were in renegotiations with Marvy Uchida because of their defective punches and they weren't sure they'd have them back in stock again. The newsletter didn't specify which particular punches they were talking about and I didn't see anything on their message board about it. But, it got me to thinking that maybe my punch problem wasn't my fault after all. Has anybody else had problems or heard of problems with these?

The only one I had was the 2 inch circle punch and it broke after about a month.

I have at least a dozen of these punches. I haven't had any problems. They are my favorite punches because they punch so easily. Maybe I should save my receipts for these. They are expensive.

I have other Marvy punches that I've had for a long while and they've never given me any trouble either. It's just this one that I bought a couple of months ago. I just thought it was weird, and wondered if anybody had heard anything else about it, if it was a bigger problem or just an isolated case? I've emailed their customer service and am waiting on a reply. I doubt they'll be able to do anything, but thought it was worth a try.

I've had 2 of these punches break. Each time I'd only used them maybe 3 times each.

i've had a fiskars punch break- not any marvy so far (fingers crossed)

I have the scallop oval and it does the same thing. I banged it on the table and it worked fine after. sort of like the punch didnt line up all the way anymore or something. Every now and then it wont work for me..
it bites because those big ones are alot of money.

Yes i had a punch work about 10 times them it would not let go of the paper and the lever just moves about. It will not punch. These punches are not cheap.
