Lace storage

I bought some lace (okay, a lot of lace) at an estate sale. How would you store it?

Wound around a card?
Wound around wooden clothes pins?
In a basket?
In a drawer?
Secured with tape?
Or a straight pin?
Would a tooth pick work?
Would a pony tail holder work (like a rubber band)?

Mine gets wound around my fingers to stop it tangling, and then put into old clear plastic takeaway containers with my ribbons. I stack them on the shelf in front of me sorted by colour, and can see at a glance which box to start rummaging through to find what I have in mind. It's pretty too.

It works for me. I don't have any lengths that are longer than 2 or 3 yards, so if you have enormous lengths, this wouldn't work.

It is an enormous amount of lace. I have wound small lengths around wooden "old fashioned" clothes pins. Cut a sample off to put in a book so I can see at a glance what I have. And the rest I have put on a card (8x10) and will put in a plastic storage bin.

Sweetheart has suggested I store the clothes pin in large jars.

That would look pretty. It sounds as if you have a LOT there! Great find!

I do the same thing with my extra ribbon that you did with your lace I have so much not all will fit in my regular ribbon storage plus it works well for short pieces. I have an old wooden box that I keep the clothespins in.

Yes I think the clothes pin will work well. Your pins are pretty. I love that wooden box . Going to the local fabric store to see if I can beg some big flat spools off of them for the wider lace.

I have a Cameo and with it I cut out ribbon cards using heavy cardstock. All my lace and ribbon are wound on them, secured with a small piece of tape and organized by color. They are stored in Stearlite plastic drawers in which I've taped cardboard dividers for neat storage. All the laces are in a drawer of their own.

That is a great idea, Puddin Head. I finally made spools out of toilet tissue rolls glued to card board circles.
