If you where asked to send original layouts and designs for a contest (with a promise to return them), would you be hesitant to enter??

It wouldn't bother me too much to do that. I always get double prints and I would probably make two copies of the layout and send one in. That way if anything awful happened, I'd be covered.

It sounds like if you win, you won't get the originals back. It also sounds like there would be multipal layouts to enter. If this is the fact, yes, I would be hesitant to enter.
I put my heart into all of my layouts for my family. Yes, I do like to enter contests and I don't mind sending my layouts in when I know they are going to be returned to me. But I don't like sending them in FIRST or not getting them back.
I hope this helps. I do appreciate your asking our opinions on this. You definately have my curiosity piqued! Sound like this may be a fun contest!

I guess if I really felt the sponsor could handle the responsibility/expense. Having had color copies of layouts made, I realize that it extremely compromises the color, quality etc. of the layout. Most experienced judges should be able to evaluate the layout and compensate for the color copy. It would really increase the cost for someone to return all the layouts, there's additional clerical work, packaging material (imagine if they weren't protected well eoungh?) and the cost of shipping. So, it would take a big "name" to make me most comfortable and trusting. I enjoy competing, and the prize itself would be a bigger issue for me probably. If it was something I really wanted, maybe I'd just duplicate the layout right away, to be safe. hth lori/deci

I would never send in an original as an entry. If a contest required that, I wouldn't enter. I good color photocopy should be sufficient for them to see the details and for judging purposes.

I wouldn't send in the original to enter the contest either. I had separation withdrawl the one and only time I had to send my original when I was published! LOL

Only if you make a replica (not a copy) first--you'll kick yourself otherwise.
