I would like to get a few people to join me to make cards for the troops for the holidays along with poeple to swap packages etc between us, anyone out there would like to join me.

If you don't get any interest, there are sites you can join.
I know operation write home sends handmade cards for troops to write home to. Theres another really similar one but I don't know the name.
There's also sites that you can send in items for care packages. I know my good friend who has been on a tour of duty, his troop received a care package from one of the sites.

I make cards for the troops from time to time. Depending on the swaps, I may be interested. I am already involved in some swaps and I like it!
