Flat Stanley Scrapbook?

Topic Closed
  • Dwelch
My granddaughter sent Flat Stanley to me as a school project. They're wanting photos instead of the usual story about what Stanley is doing. I thought about doing a small scrapbook and wondered if any of you have done anything like that (or even a Flat Stanley page). (Stanley is going to the Governor's office tomorrow to sit in his chair!)

My freind Janet on here just did a while boardbook of her trip to jamicia with flat stanley. It's in here gallery. Her user name is janet28rn

We have always just sent photos and a description of what Stanley did when he visited. I know the ones we have receive the kiddos had to make their on journal/scrapbook of all the places Stanley went.

Am I asking a totally stupid question if I ask who Flat Stanley is??? LOL, I've never heard of it!

I love Flat Stanley, it's one of the most fun children's books, ever! I think a small scrapbook would be lots of fun. As a teacher, it's always great when we get examples of something new and different. Have fun with it. I hope Stanley does a good job as the Gov.! LOL

My daughter sent her flat stanley to her aunt in Oklahoma and received a wonderful 12 x 12 scrapbook of all flat stanley's adventures. It was a huge hit with my daughter and two years later she still gets it out two look at. I think you have a great idea!

I received a flat stanley from my Godson a few years back. I worked as a school photographer so on the day I went to his school Stanley went along as my assistant and in the afternoon we went to his classroom and took them fruit roll-up. They got a kick out of that. They were making their own books with stories of his adventures too. So you might want to check to see what the class is doing and possibly if you do make the little book for her flat stanley to also send along loose pictures too in case she is doing a book.

I totally agree with Sharmin. I have often considered introducing scrapbooking to my students as a project for a report....still trying to work that 1 out. Have fun!

I had my friend's son's Flat Stanley several years ago. She's in Tennessee, I'm in Oregon. His Stanley traveled the farthest of any in the class! I did a poster-type board with the photos with journaling about his adventures. Unfortunately, I had to fold it to mail it back.

So, dwelch, admit it! You want YOURS to be the best in the class.

My son took Flat Stanley to the prom complete with pictures of him in his tux! I took the original letter sent with Flat Stanley and a copy of the letter he sent back along with the pictures and put in my son's scrapbook. His little cousin was thrilled that he did "cooler" things than the other kids!

Great idea. I am not exactly sure where but, you can buy the corregated card board (science fair) presentation boards. They have 2 folds already so you can scrap around them and not mess anything by folding.

Not anything to do with Flat Stanley, but for scrapbooking with students: I think it would be great to do the simple paperbag scrapbooks. Any theme could be used. Small, cheap, easy and adorable. Very easy for each child to personalize.

I received a flat stanley from my niece 2 years ago. At the time I worked for a company that did printing (real estate books) so I took stanley to work with me and took pictures around the printing presses and production areas. I then made a scrapbook (digital) and used Flat Stanley to teach the children about how a magazine publishing company works from building the pages on the computer to printing the books on the big presses.

I don't have it posted in my gallery but I can post it if you want to see it. Just PM me to let me know.

A mini book is a great idea. That way they can keep it. If they are not someone with a existing scrapbook, what do they do with their pages,? A mini album is the way to go!

My class is working on a scrapbook of the year this year. Each month they create a page about what they did and journal about it. It is a really fun project!

We haven't done flat stanley, but a scrapbook would be great for his adventures!

Just to share...as of today, our weekend family project is now listed on the stanley project site!

p.s. It was a lot of fun & we're already looking forward to his next set of adventures for his book! TFL!

I was gonna mention Janet's recently-completed Flat Stanley book but I see someone already did! Here's a link to her gallery - Janet28rn's Gallery

My niece in Minnesota sent us one a couple years ago but it was a LIFE SIZE cut out of her - Flat Sarah. We took her around & about New York City, it was a blast taking pics w/ her & all the famous landmarks! We were hoping our NYC pics would give my niece the most exciting pics in her class, then we found out someone sent their Flat Person to Africa - no way could New York City top that! I just scrapped a 2-pager about it, but I haven't put it in the gallery (yet?).
