When I started scrapping, ABC albums were all the rage. One letter (or 2) for each layout, until you have covered all 26. Imagine a 12x 12 page decorated with all your left over Q's...
I try to use "z" in place of s's for plurals (like my recent layout Pumpkin Gutz) whenever it seems fitting, to save my propper S's for more serious los where the substitution doesn't look as good.
I was actually thinking of planning a family lunch at Quiznos and taking along my camera so I could scrap it and use up some of those letters! Does that cry out "crazy-scrapbooking-lady" to you?
Another idea for your unused letters might be to use A2ZWordFinder.com---it's kinda like scrabble--you put in the letters you do have, and it comes up with words you may not have thought about
I have to say that all of the ideas were awesome! My favorites though were adhering to paper and paint over to create a background, use for the borders, mix and match them, and turn into different letters. This is why I love this site so much, so many talented people willing to share the creative juice
Stick them randomly on to cardstock and cut them into strips for borders.
What a great idea-borders!!!
I randomly stuck letters on a page for a school picture layout.
You could also think of a word with the unusual letter then write the rest of the word and use the stick on letter in the middle of the word, or something like that.
I agree, it's hard to use up sticker letters. Now that I have my cricut I don't use the store bought letters as much.
Ds did a collage at school where he just stuck random letters to the page around a central item.
It came out so well I was thinking of copying the idea for a layout.
- Many times you can make new letters (or turn them into numbers, (such as I = 1, L = 7, O = 0). You can turn them around, sideways or upside down. You can also trim them/OR fill them in and make them into different letters or symbols (V = A, B = F, E = W, F = L, M = W, Z = N, same goes for lower case letters, etc, etc!)
- Try and use the smallest words possible and fill (write/draw/doodle/print) in the rest (hi, bye, be, am, is, etc.)
- You can also use abbreviations (such as, B Mine, I U, BFF, LOL, C U Later, FOR U, hi, I Hope U R OK?, HTH!, Mmm, Eeeny, Meeny, Miney, Moe, Ooo, Ahh, Ohh, Sweet Pea, QT, R U There, Shh, Tee-Time, U R Mine, U R Sweet, U R Loved, XOXO, I U That's Y, Zzz
- You can use them at random around a page or card, as a sort of border or background.
What letters are they? I love word games, maybe we can find some fun words in there.
Use them to create a random or geometric pattern - x and o are great, of course, but play around a bit. Maybe cut them in half either horizontally or vertically to make them look more graphic and less letter-y.
Use a single letter as a large capital for the first word of a journalling section.
Use them for monograms for cards and bookmarks.
Make up cartoon 'swear' words for LOs or those 'cr@p, I forgot your birthday!' type cards.
As I was making a card the other day and using the alphabet stickers, I realized that I have the same random letters left and not enough of the other more used letters to create any words or phrases. I'm curious if anyone has any creative ideas to use the left over alphabet stickers instead of just throwing them away? Thanks in advance
