Card Stock Thickness?

Ah I see. I've tried to research this on my own a few weeks back, and I found a bunch of information about this "weight" concept, but never found any info on how that related directly to the thickness of the paper.

I suspected it would be the higher the weight, the thicker, so I ended up buying 100lb from Staples, but that's too thin.
I haven't been able to find anything above 130lb online, either. =[

My two cents....

From what I have known about paper is its measured by weight. Most printer paper is 20lb weight. Card stock usually ranges from 60 -80 lb on average. The higher the number the greater the thickness.

Remember too that adding laminate will add to it making it more stiff. This might allow you to go with a lower weight aka less expensive paper.

Something like poster board might work, since I need to print two sides and glue them together (And then laminate the end results).
However, I'm not sure if they sell standard paper-sized poster board for use with laser printers.

It needs to be thick enough so that it doesn't "flop" when holding it or waving the paper, and thin enough so that it can still be considered a "playing card".

Nice to see you again! Haha, I really want to re-create the Triple Triad cards with higher res images, and then Tetra Master.

But this project is actually for Ragnarok Online.
There is no specific card battle system for RO, however, I intend to implement the rules of Triple Triad onto the cards.

Once I get the technique down, I'd really like to offer this as a service for other avid-fans who've always wanted to play Triple Triad or Tetra Master (or play with Ragnarok cards, haha) IRL.
They did make real-life Tetra Master and Triple Triad cards; but it was an extremely limited run, and they cost a fortune.


But anywho, anybody have any recommendations? I don't want to print until I've got the right stuff. =]

So... Triple Triad, Tetra Master, the Metal Gear Acid gameplay system, or something I don't know?

Ya know at one time I did know how cardstock was graded but for the life of me I can't think of it now. Is poster board to thin? I know the back of paper packs often is a thinner cardstock,you could try that.

I was wondering if someone could briefly explain the different thicknesses of card stock, and by what unit they are measured.

I'm attempting to re-create a virtual card game that was present in an extremely popular video game, and therefore I'm looking for a card thickness that would match how thick a standard playing card (or rather, a pokemon card) would be.

Similar thicknesses would include the thickness of a cereal box. (Except just a bit thicker)

I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction, because the type of card stock I picked up from Staples is entirely too thin. I would have to glue four pieces together in order to make it even remotely stable.
