My two cents....
From what I have known about paper is its measured by weight. Most printer paper is 20lb weight. Card stock usually ranges from 60 -80 lb on average. The higher the number the greater the thickness.
Remember too that adding laminate will add to it making it more stiff. This might allow you to go with a lower weight aka less expensive paper.

Ah I see. I've tried to research this on my own a few weeks back, and I found a bunch of information about this "weight" concept, but never found any info on how that related directly to the thickness of the paper.
I suspected it would be the higher the weight, the thicker, so I ended up buying 100lb from Staples, but that's too thin.
I haven't been able to find anything above 130lb online, either. =[
