how to "ink" edge of paper?

Get the Chalk Eyes, there are 2 other brands that are that size too. I luv using them. They are smaller @easier to handle on the edges of the paper. They are better @ less messy than the big stamp pads. I want to get some more colors later on when I have more money.

just tried q-tips- worked for the inside part at the top of a heart. I dunno- it was a bit "fibery" and messy so it wasn't perfect. I think I'd go the sponge route, just didn't have any on hand at the moment to use.

I prefer to use a sponge rather than the ink pad itself (just make sure you do it on top of another piece of paper since you're going off the edge!)

Seconding the sponges. It lets you put on as much ink as you want- a little bit or a whole lot, and you can swirl it around if need be. I buy a big bag of circle makeup applicator sponges at the dollar store and snip them into quarters. They last forever and work very, very well.

I use sponges or sponge daubers to ink my edges.
    Just my 2 cents

Thanks everyone! Hopefully I will get to try it soon! I appreciate everyone's input!

It's so easy and so addictive! I can't scrap without ink and have 80+ ink pads..SERIOUSLY!!

It is easy and what a GREAT look ~ I tend to distroy my inks/chalks - not sure why ~ They get all frayed - so I get the little dabbers and tap the ink/chalk and then edge the paper ~ My inks/chalks have a longer life.

If you just want to darken the edges use any kind of stamping ink (distress, chalking, normal ink pad made for scrapbooking) and rub it along the edge

now if you're looking for a faded look of distressing (like using a stencil or mask) then use a makeup sponge (the white kind) and pick up the ink with a sponge and then apply lightly to the paper

No, you don't need a special type of ink pad. If I'm looking for just a slight dicolouration of the edge of my pp, I hold the paper in my had and the ink pad perpendicular to the pp and run it up and down the edge a few times. If I'm looking for a more smoky, thicker inked edge, I lay my paper on the table with a scrap of paper underneath and I use my ink pad almost flat against the pp and I draw it back over the edge a few times. Hope this helps.

    ditto...easy peasy!!!

I'm not even sure inking is the right term. I have never used stamps or "inking" on my scrapbook layouts but love the look I am seeing of the edges all around a paper or letter with the "ink" edge look.

How do I do it? Do I need a special type of stamp pad? I am really clueless here. Thanks for any guidance!
