Make the Cut software for Cricut

Ooops! I emailed MTC and within an hr had a reply.

yup POSTIVE its MTC!!!! He has every excuse in the book why he is not responding but they dont add up and I am not the only one whose stated this issue. I have never had a problem getting in touch with Todd (SCAL)

I watched these tutorials, and it was a great help at helping me better understand the program more. I have the trial DL and I'm convinced!! =)
MTC is for me!!

There was an updated version released on the 1st & the 4th. I almost never wish for a 'snow day' but I would like to stay home one day this week & play with MTC & my bug. During my 2 week school break I decluttered & cleaned my abandoned computer/scrapping room. It's now clean & ready for action,lol!

The trial version of Make the Cut (you can get from our site) never runs out, but you can't actually cut with it unless you buy it...it cuts a line through your design.

We just finished a Cricut Font Equivalent chart. So, those of you who have SCAL or MTC can use it to find fonts that match Cricut fonts. Those who don't have the extra software, can use it as a visual or for printing journaling/design matches.

It is a work in progress, and we will be updating & adding to it as we discover new font duplicates. If you know of any good matches we've missed please jump in on the comment section.

And you say no customer support? There's an email link and just like SCAL (craftedge). If you're looking for a phone number to call they both don't have it. Don't get me wrong they are both great programs.

LOL on that one! I bought CDS because I thought you had to buy it in order for SCAL to work! I only have 2 cartridges so I've never used it.
I had a very basic idea how to make an svg in Inkscape but when I would try to share one that I made it would be huge. I didn't share anymore when I was told the shapes were humongous. When I would open them in SCAL they automatically opened to whatever my setting was so they weren't big.
I used my Cricut for school projects and my die cuts were very simple shapes most of the time.
I brought my Cricut bug home from school & I want to start making some hybrid projects with it.
I digiscrap & can print my own 12x12 paper so I want to get started making some projects with MTC.

Isn't that so true, Rhoda!! Once you get a chance to play with your new software, can you update us on how you like it compared? Sounds like you have a good working knowledge of all of them!

Between doing the updates,answering forum questions, holidays & the launch of the new software I wonder when the man sleeps! I bought it tonight. So now I have Design Studio, SCAL 1,2 & MTC. There is nothing better than buying new software,lol!

Are you sure you're not thinking of SCAL? Because the creator of the Make the Cuts program is responding to people almost instantly...even on Christmas. Try this forum:

Oh good point Branddilynn no customber service ugh... that is a draw back, however if the software is wonderful maybe little customer service will be needed.
I would like to think that was the case but being a realistic person and my experience with techincal support I would find that hard to believe. Anyway I will continue to monitor what MTC has to offer because it is intriguing to me. I love simple however my expectations are always very detailed oriented.
Hope they offer simplicity and detail capability then it will be for me for sure.

well its a no no for me
1.because I like more detailed images that it does not handle like I can do with scal and inkscape and
2.because the creator is not responding to messages without customer service yah got nuttin' so /i will keep my $100 and still do what I want with scal no loss for me

I posted here on Sunday, but my thread got deleted. I can't figure out why...I'm just an avid "Cricut nut" who is excited to see a piece of software that is going to make our Cricut hum even more than they already do.

I'm so excited about this software. I cannot stand Inkscape. I had just asked for SCAL2 in my stocking for Christmas when I saw this software introduced on Saturday.

I know the potential of what the Cricut should be able to do, but as "happy scrapbookers", not technical people, we should be able to utilize dingbat fonts to create to our hearts desire. I love my Cricut and the 10 carts I own, with 3 more on my list, but I also would love to create my own titles and utilize dingbat fonts in my layouts without having to use Inkscape, as in SCAL2, but simply like I did with my Wishblade.

MTC has a handle on that simplicity. The developer is doing a great job answering our questions and making his list of software fixes to make this a very, user friendly program.

I hope this thread does not get deleted. I love scrapbook.com and the creative people here. If this topic stays, I'll be coming back to the message board as much as I visit the gallery!! Looking forward to others responses.

Has anyone tried this new software that works with your Cricut yet? I played with it and really liked it (so much in fact that we put it on our web site):o). It lets Cricut owners use SVG files same as the SCAL program except that it opens them right into the program and lets you break them apart which SCAL doesn't. Pretty cool. Sounds like they are still working out some bugs, but seem to be fixing them pretty quickly. If you want to learn more you can see a little news report I did here:

I'd love to hear pros & cons you discover. Especially anyone who uses SCAL already...since I don't have it.
