    Happy Fourth of July!

We drove home in rain from Doug and Charity's. We got home about 2;30 i think, don't hold me to that.
We had stopped at a Woodman's grocery store in Wis. on the way home. It is so much bigger than ours. I had nothing here for dinner. We decided to buy a pizza crust, and make our own pizza. We had to get all the toppings. When we came out it was pouring. I knew it would be as the black clouds were rolling in.

We had such fun at Doug and Charity's. It was like a mini vacation. We saw a small fireworks display at Doug's. it was enough to satisfy me.
We had storms this afternoon. The alert on my phone woke me up from my nap. It really didn't storm, only heard a little thunder. I think up North it was going to be worse. I feel so bad for all the campers at Devil's Lake and the other camp grounds up there in WI. and for all the people with outdoor plans.

Cheryl- nice cards! I need to make cards, but I want to make some LOs. My pictures came today of our family reunion when the Oregon group was here.

Terry- I saw corn in someone's grocery cart, but it is really too early.

Anna- how nice your parents were asked to be in the parade. Hope it went well.

Hi to all. back to normal tomorrow.

Good afternoon! I went for a run this morning. I have been cleaning, watched a movie (part of it as I fell asleep) and now going to scrap this afternoon. I am NOT getting out in this hot weather. We are under a heat advisory. The heat index all week is 106-110. Zoey and Zeke are with their dad's family. Priscilla and Izzy are at her best friend's house with her family. My son and his kids celebrate with his dad. There are some neighbors a few blocks away that set off really nice fireworks. If I walk to the end of my street (literally 2 houses down), I can see them well. I will probably do that depending on how hot it still is outside. Neighbors set off fireworks for an hour last night and drove my cat crazy. The dog did not seem to care.
  • Terry0773
Morning!!! The neighbors surrounding our property were setting off fireworks until after 11PM. Did not bother the dogs, even the little girls, which is good. I, of course, have my noise cancelling ear buds (for Steve's snoring) so I wasn't bothered either. Decided tonight we will grill hamburgers plus deviled eggs & french fries for sides Wish the corn was in!

Anna: I loved your videos on FB of the fireworks! There used to be a really huge one here down at the Columbia River which was paid for by donations. People quit donating so no more display. We stopped going as there were thousands of people down there at this huge historical park and it became a mess. I hope your parents enjoy being in the parade! You didn't grow up in Tazewell? Learn something new every day!!!

To everyone: Have a memorable 4th celebration and a safe one too!!!

Happy 4th everyone, may it be a wonderful day for you!!

May be an image of 1 person, standing and text that says '

Jane, hope you and Bob get to celebrate your anniversary at some point. I know you will be glad to have your teeth issues done and over with.

Terry, awesome layout! Yes our town is decked out for the 4th. Our little Main Street looks very beautiful. The town did a wonderful fireworks display last night. The little community I grew up in is having a parade, meal, and fireworks tonight. Mom and Dad will be riding in the parade again. Just hope they down fall or get injured as they both are pretty unstable on their feet right now.

    Cathe, enjoy your lake time.

Hello to all! Have a wonderful day!

Hello gang. We are at Doug and Charity's lake house. So nice being with family.
Today Charity, Rose, Van and I went to a flea market and then into the small town of Rippon.
It rained this afternoon- late. Rum and Doug cooked the filets in the oven, they turned out great. Doug thinks the fireworks will be shot off tonight.

    Happy Anniversary Jane!

Terry- cute LO., nice Steve made reservations.

Danielle- Ozzie takes a hemp dog treat for anxiety for tonight.
So nice that you have home grown strawberries.

Judy- it is nice you have a doctor who is caring. Hugs to you. I don't know what I would do in your situation. Hugs.

    Hi to all
  • OnlyJane
Good afternoon, Saturday, sun goes in, comes out, goes in, it will reach at least 90 with little chance of rain
Did a few things in the yard, washed a load of clothes, made the bed, I know exciting stuff. Bob cut a few dead branches off one of our trees finally so that was good.
Anna thanks for the 4th of July image. Hope you have a wonderful long weekend. Not sure what we will end up doing which isn't unusual.
Cathe hope your having fun at the lake house.
judy glad to hear from you. Nice that your transportation worked like it should. You have so many decisions to make about your health but it sounds like you have one great dr. that takes time to explain things to you. We are so dry here that hopefully those who shot fireworks will be careful. It is illegal here in our county but that never stopped people from shooting them.
Denise any big plans for the 4th?
Danielle sure hope the pills work good for Bella.
Terry hope you can pull a few weeds. I swear even with it being so dry right now, weeds are doing fantastic. We have a few big trees in the backyard that are losing leaves due to the dryness. You do have lots of people with birthdays. Our 2nd son, Chris, his birthday is on the 23rd, he will be 43, yikes!! Glad you found a Columbia shirt!!! I really like them, too. They are getting hard to find locally, Belk's have them from time to time, Kohls use to have some but no longer carry them, Sports Academy has a few. Hope you can take some fireworks shots. They are hard to capture, Bob has tried and some shots have turned out really good and lots seem to have way too much black in the photo where he was unable to capture that burst of color.

Guess that is it for now, so will close. Have a great day and for those who have not checked in for awhile, hope all is well.
  • Terry0773
Here's that LO---Danny's 2nd birthday. Took me forever to try to clean up those photos in PS. They came out of an old adhesive stick style photo album and they weren't kind to my photos! TFL
  • Terry0773
Morning! Steve isn't training today but we are finishing the grocery chore at the local Krogers (Fred Meyers) store. Should be quick. He brought home the John Deere tractor and for a couple hours worth of work the bill was $500. Parts were only $150. I'm really tired of doling out money....I need some to come in.
Depending if it is raining, I would love to get in the car, find a hill and take some firework shots. Really having trouble with capturing those. I did what the one video said and it sure didn't work for me. Have to try it again. Other than that no 4th plans at all.
This month is my "every 6 days" month. Every 6 days, staring with our anniversary on the 7th, I have birthdays. Anniv, then Steve, Andrew, Peem, Austin, and Lauren's birthdays. Also had an ex-friend in there too. Lots of cards!!!

Anna: is your town all decorated out? I loved it and now miss it when the town I grew up in did that. Plus a parade. Then big BBQ's and homemade ice cream. What fun!!! Here the state now imposed a new law that fireworks cannot be sold until 3 days prior to the 4th and yet its still illegal to set them off (anything but sparklers). So why allow selling? Luckily it will be raining on Sunday so we aren't dry.
Cathe: I hope you are all having a good time!
Cheryl: how are you? Will you be taking the kids to the fireworks there?
Danielle: Glad you got meds for Bella. This will be Missy's first 4th so I'm anxious to see her reaction. Never had a dog freak out but then the labs just want to retrieve what was "shot".
    Denise: Any plans this weekend?
Jane: I broke down yesterday and bought another Columbia Omni-shade shirt since they were on sale on Amazon. I now own 3. I do like them. Nothing else is happening here either. I'm anxious to get out and start pulling weeds. And there's so many of them Hope you have a good time for the 4th.
Judy: Glad you checked in. With my cancer, I was also Stage 2 so at surgery to remove the lump she removed 10 lymph nodes even tho only the "sentinel" node was infected. I do not know what prompts different treatments but I know women who had radiation first then chemo and lastly surgery. Then with a mastectomy, another friend had no chemo or radiation. When I was done with chemo, within 2 wks they had me doing radiation 5 days a week and you absolutely cannot miss a treatment. If you did they canceled it all. I'm glad you like your oncologist but I'm also sorry you have to deal with this. A drone light show? Now that's interesting but I'm not sure it would feel the same.

    Have a safe weekend!!!

May be an image of standing and text that says 'HAPPY 4th of July WEEKEND'

Jane- Thank you for hosting May and June.
Terry - Thanks for taking care of July and Aug.
I believe I am up for Sept and Oct.

Terry, we have an anniversary this month too. 41 for us.

Judy, glad you checked in. Tough decisions to make. Hugs!

Cathe, have fun at the lake!

Jane, we hit 90 yesterday but had a thunderstorm around 6 pm. Some places got over 3 inches in a short amount of time and had flooding. We didn't get that much.

Danielle, hope the pills work for Bella. Fireworks scare my cats too. They run and hide.

Hello to all have a great weekend!

July 1st 79° in sunny San Diego at 10:45 a.m.

Good morning, ladies. I didn't realize I'd been missing. I'm not doing anything worth writing about. I'm still sleeping some during the day, but not as much as I was. On Wednesday I even did a little bit of x-stitching on the quilt. I'm thinking the quilt will be a Christmas present. It's not like quilts and such are really needed much here until then and I know they have an abundance of them already! This one is just more for sentimentality. You know...one more thing that eventually the girls won't know what to do with but won't want to throw out. sweat_smile emoji

Have I been in here since Monday when I went to the oncologist? Anyway, transportation worked out exactly as it is supposed to! My youngest, Tammy, met me there and took notes for me. The doctor was very nice and explained things thoroughly, going over options two or three times. He thoroughly answered questions and was just a great patient-pleaser. I have hormone-positive receptors, which is good, because it can be treated easier with pills. For some reason another receptor still shows pending, so he was going to light a fire to get that result. For now, I'm waiting for a call from a surgeon to schedule an appointment to cover those options again, then I have another appt. with the oncologist on July 22. I'm supposed to see the surgeon before then. Right now I don't know what I want to do. With my COPD and CHF, surgery might be out of the question anyway...and age. Age would be fine, if not for the other things. But with transportation difficulties, I don't want to have to go in for scheduled radiation, knowing I might not have a ride one or more of the times. I'm Stage 2. Since they did so many scans at the hospital, the doctor is pretty sure the cancer has only spread to the lymph node(s), so I might just let it run its course and what happens, happens. Something is going to get me....

I miss not enjoying the 4th with my family. One of our seaside cities had a fireworks display planned, but at the last minute, the company backed out. Not wanting to disappoint their residents, they contacted a drone company who makes sky show displays. So there will be Drones Over Imperial Beach this year. They showed some on the news last night and they are amazing and beautiful. Made me wonder if this will soon be the new "fireworks" displays. Perfect solution it would seem...not noisy like fireworks and no sparks to start fires. Sea World had to pull way back on what they used to do for fireworks during the summer season because of complaints. If I had money, I would invest it in a drone-display company. Right now the displays are very expensive, but sure to come down in price as more places use them. I just looked and saw they will also be used on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, so my son and family will most likely watch them from their boat. It used to be that one of those who took part in the Bernie Madoff scam had a North Shore house after getting out of prison, or maybe it was Bernie, himself. Anyway, they used to have a huge fireworks show on the 4th, which also happened to be his birthday, so it was called Whoever's Birthday Fireworks, but everyone celebrated the 4th. Then he moved to Reno. D-i-L Liz was sad because she was the school librarian. One of the get-out-of-jail conditions was contributing thousands of dollars to the local school libraries annually. There aren't that many schools in their small town, so lots of money for the school library. Now the other city's schools gets those funds.

Cathe, I envy you going to Doug's lake house. Photos you've shown look like such a fun, relaxing place.

Terry, hope the DNA kit gives good test results and it doesn't show the dog is 60% dachshund/40% St. Berhard! lol My gd did a kit and it didn't seem very accurate. There are so many kits, but it was recommended by her vet. But then I've seen surprising results from human test kits also. The good human ones keep updating, getting more and more accurate. Do the doggie kits do that also?

Danielle, any plans for work on your she-shed this weekend? Has your husband begun working on the cabinet for it, or will he wait until the shed is completed?

Hi to everyone and have a great almost-weekend!~Judy
  • OnlyJane
    Good afternoon, Friday July 1st
Sunshine, dry as can be, 89 feels like 92
Well never did get back on here yesterday. Not much going on with it being so hot out, too hot to even walk Baxter. So many things could be done inside but don't feel like doing anything.
Terry how nice to go to an upscale eatery for your anniversary, so nice of Steve to make the reservations. Tuesday was our 53rd Anniversary, of course Bob was away and that day could not even reach him by cell and something is wrong with his cell, it won't ring from time to time and goes directly to voice. Anyway right now for me to go out for a nice meal is out until I get my final dentures and everything fits like they should so we will do something nice later on, hopefully travel to something new. That DNA kit for dogs sounds interesting.
Cathe have fun at the Lake House with Doug and family for the 4th long weekend. I have some wonderful memories of the 4th when young, Mom, Dad, and I would leave Florida and head for Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Parents had friends in Mansfield, Mass with a house on a lake and Dad's whole family would be invited for the 4th for a cookout, motor and sailing, etc. Grandparents would be there, so much fun, when dark fireworks!!

Very quiet on here, bet everyone is busy with plans for the long weekend. Stay safe in all you do, enjoy whatever your plans are.
Judy thinking of you, hope you are feeling stronger every day!!!!!
  • Terry0773
Morning! Its a crisp 55 deg outside but the house (with no air circ whatever) is 72. Time for another call!
Next week is our 49th anniversary and Steve made reservations already to an upscale restaurant at the Casino a few miles away. Now there's the guy I married.
Got a LO done yesterday which I'll post soon and already have ideas for the next one. Need to use up stuff I've bought over the years and not buy new things, especially paper!!!
Danny brought Ranger over last night so I could help him take a cheek swab for a DNA kit for dogs. It's going to be very cool as it will tell us if the pups are 100% husky or Pomsky plus will give us medical alert info like if they will be allergic to a med or poss a genetic condition. There's 23 points plus the breed answer. I'm paying half of it since it will also apply to Missy. Amazing technology.

Cathe: has Judy posted over on the Grand's board (messenger?)? I was wondering how she's doing. How cool you get to go up to the Lake house and spend the weekend. Have a great time!

Hope everyone else has some fun plans for the holiday.

  • Terry0773

Welcome to the New Layouts and Cards for the months of July and August. We would also love to see any other project, photo or imported images you'd like to share with the group.

The rules for this thread are simple: Post a newly uploaded layout, card or project, get comments and give comments on everyone's pages. No "drop and runs" please. If you get love be kind enough to give love back. Since there are several people here try not to flood the post with too many LOs or cards. Maybe 5-7 in any post and no daily limit. Follow SB.com instructions for downloading and linking your projects.

Come by and join the fun! This thread has gained a fairly regular following. We enjoy seeing new people come by to share their work and join in the fun! You can join in at any time. Just remember that it is more fun if you give love and get love too!

While this is a laid-back community of artists and crafts people sharing their work and support, it's not a place to just drop off work and not visit the galleries of others in the thread. We encourage you to enjoy all the marvelous talent and leave comments! Should you encounter a problem with another poster in this thread, please PM them directly to ask your question or resolve your issue. The hostesses are not referees and can't step in the middle for you.

This is a collaborative effort. We are rotating the job of hosting the thread. Included in the opening post is the schedule of hostesses over the next couple months. Please volunteer as it is the easiest job you will ever have
