Alternatives to ink on stamps?

I would try embossing. Its really simple and has a great effect.

with the paint on the stamps those foam brushes work really good for getting that light evenish coat of paint on the stamp

RE: Scrappychicdesigns: try crystal lacquer too! It's awesome goes on over your stamped images. I've even used it on photos of the kids in the tub, playing with the hose, blowing bubbles, and drooling all over the place. Love that stuff!!!!!

I have a bunch of stamps (traditional rubber, clear, foam, etc) and wanted to try something other than ink on them. The ink is fine but always seems a little faded or flat looking. I wanted to do something a little more interesting. Can I use acrylic paint on my stamps? Other kinds of paint. I was looking at paints the other day and they seem so cheap compared to ink pads. Could they work? Any examples?
