How to store my loose ribbon

I don't have a solution, but I really like the idea of tossing it into baggies by color/theme. do have the little embellie hard cases taht I have some sorted into..like baby boy..baby girl..so that when I am working on a theme it is easy to get to. But I have been needing to do something cause I have tons and just bout more on the Christmas sales!!!

At the moment it's all kind of semi-organised in a big box, but I love the idea of the jars, they are so cute!

I don't have a ton of ribbon yet but I do have enough to fill two drawers in my scraproom. I'm planning on doing ribbon jars as soon as I can get to the store that sells the jars. Check out this for directions and pictures.

I store mine on binder rings, like Mary posted above. I don't use much ribbon, but I do have enough to have one ring for each colour in the spectrum, and one for neutrals/string. I hang all my rings on one large ring, but if I had room, I'd rather put them on their own hooks like Mary did- it looks so pretty!

I keep my small scraps of ribbon that are too small to put on a ribbon ring in a Starbucks frap bottle. Because I don't use much, I put all my scraps in one (it doesn't look great but I can see what I have), but I've seen glass jars of ribbon scraps divided where each jar holds a different colour and I think it looks quite pretty- if you have enough scraps.

The longer ones I just roll up like they were on a spool and put a piece of tape on the end to keep it from unraveling.

I just keep all mine in a bag. They have never been so bad I have to iron them though? They are mostly scrap pieces though so maybe they are too short to wrinkle?

I stuff my loose ribbon in glass vases I got for free from freecycle. It's easy to pull the bunch out and get what I need.

I store mine according to color in ziplock bags.

I buy the floss bobbin organizers then use a binder clip to bundle by color. This is most helpful for me since i have no space.

The ribbon purse didn't work for me either. I keep mine all on plastic holders for ribbon arranged by color all facing up. (Can you see why a left brained person can't use the purse?) I have a photo in my gallery. It stores a ton of ribbon.

I am loving all these ideas! I have hundreds of ribbons of all sizes and none on spools. I just don't have room for a dowel rod thing.
I like the ribbon rings though...they look pretty.
But sounds like how I am storing mine is how some of you do it too. I use baggies that are color sorted. I have gallon bags for each color and they are stuffed! But I have a small baggie (snack size) in each large baggie that has small scraps that are about 1-2 inches, so they don't get lost among the large strips.
The baggie system works for me since I want to take them to crops. But if I had all the ribbons on rings by color, I could just toss each ring in a baggie and go.
I tried the ribbon purse but for me it didn't work. When I would pull one ribbon, sometimes another ribbon would get pulled out of it's slot. But I have a gf that loves here, so each to her own.

I use the small craft baggies you can get at walmart or m's for mine. Except for the few spools I have which are now on my new ribbon and accesorie organizer.

I keep mine on floss cards stored in bead boxes by color. It works great for me and I don't have too much problems with having to iron them. I did get the small ribbon iron to use when needed!

I use a variation of the Pull-eze for all my ribbon, not just the loose. (I take my ribbon off the spools or whatever when I get it.) I have a photo storage box (shoe box would work fine, too, but the photo boxes are all purty ) and I punched holes in it with my cropadile. I did two deep all the way around. Then I pull the ribbon through the holes. I keep it organized in color families.

i take any small bits of ribbon I have left and put them in ziplock bags and file them by color with the rest of my scraps of paper and what not in a 10 drawer organizer

I used large saftey pins and slid the end on the pointy end. I then pinned it to my curtains that hang right above my workspace. You could hang them from anything though.

It was cheap and immediate!

The thing I don't like about ribbon wrapped around cards, whether homemade or like you get from MM or CC, is the wrinkles from where they bend around the edges. I'm too lazy to iron the ribbons, but I don't want the wrinkles on my page or greeting card.

I have a pull-ez (a home made one) also a ribbon holder attached to one of my shelving units.

I put mine in a drawer on wrapped around small chipboard pieces I cut to 2 x 3 (left over packaging)

I put mine in gallon size ziplock bags then put all the bags in a tote. I like to take all of mine to crops so "hanging" the ribbon is not a good option for me (but I think I will look at the ribbon ring).

I also use the ribbon ring system. Probably my most fav organizational "tool" I have. I jsut love it.

I have this ribbon purse (pictured) and I LOVE it! I thought I had a lot of ribbon, and the thing isn't even half full! I highly recommend one if you have tons of ribbon.

Thanks, that is def. an option for me.

Some people use a clear thing (like what a set of sheets might come in) with holes in the sides and they toss everything in there and the ribbon pokes out of the holes.

I have SOOOO much ribbon. I have a ton on spools which is easy to store, and my husband is going to make me a deal with dowels to store the spools on. But I have no idea what to do with the loose stuff. I have ALOT of it and it's just a mess in the large basket I store it in. No matter how much I try not to I still tangle it up, and it spills over the sides, there's smaller peices that get lost in the caos...and then I can't see those peices to use.

What do you guys do with all of your loose ribbon?

I know that I can make the rectangle cardboard things to wind it around...but thats not really what I have in mind. I am sort of looking for some way to hang it, weather it be by dowel or some other mechanism. I idealy would like to be able to see what I have all at once in color code.

Any suggestions?
