Since having a digital camera, I only print what I will actually use. But the photos I've had for years that were printed are stored chronologically. Some day I hope to get around to scanning them or at least put those in a regular photo album. Then when I'm ready to scrap them, I can just take them out and voila.

However, my mother-in-law still uses regular film so the pictures we get from her I try my best to store them chronologically but the photos aren't dated unfortunately.

RE: Amy_: For duplicates I attach to the back side of page that I scrapped. That way I know I have additional of that particular photo if needed. I have done this with photos that weren't so great too.

RE: Stacey40: I place some in my sons photo albums so when he gets older he can have them. The others I let family (grandparents,aunts,cousi ns ect...) pick which photos they want.. then friends can have any remaining ones if they want.

For duplicates I attach to the back side of page that I scrapped. That way I know I have additional of that particular photo if needed. I have done this with photos that weren't so great too.

But I am not afraid of throwing away bad; unflattering pictures, if I don't want to look at it now, I'm probably not going to want to look at it in 20 years. I hate clutter & LOVE to throw things away, it feels like I am cleaning.

I am the same way. I toss the photos that don't end up in the scrapbook. If I have extras, I will keep them for other relatives...and they can toss them if they'd like. I guess I just don't see the point in having scrapbooks and photo albums. It just gets to be waaaaay too much.

I just learned to Mosaic! It is fantastic! There are only a few places that sell Mosaic Materials, but check it out! I use up all my leftover trip photos that I cant get in the scrapbook!

I have mine in a box and periodically when I see a neat idea, like using a rolo-dex for a mini album that sits on your desk, I will pull out that box and use the left over photos to make the project. All of the photos in the box are "good photos" (I only print the good ones). I also have a bulletin board and I rotate the pictures on that with ones from the box too.

When I get done scrapping I always have a stack left over, photos I either changed my mind on, or didn't have room on pages but didn't want to do a whole new LO for. So most are in albums on a shelf, but at the end of albums I do a collage page or two and put them in a different album I have of just collages from books I've done.

This way I have my main albums, and also an album that has all the events from together as kind of a 'quick look'. Nothing super fancy just fun and kind of hectic.

Pitch them or give them away- or let the kids scrap them & try to only print what I use. I do all of the above. But I am not afraid of throwing away bad; unflattering pictures, if I don't want to look at it now, I'm probably not going to want to look at it in 20 years. I hate clutter & LOVE to throw things away, it feels like I am cleaning.

I try to only print what i will scrap- everything else is just put in a file on the comp ( and backed up on a CD ). If i do scrap less than i print, they just go in a box or i let the DGB's look,play,scrap them!

I want to introduce my daughter to scrapbooking at some point. She's 6.5 and I think she's almost ready. I've decided to hold on to extra photos for her to use. I also think its neat to use them to practice new techniques on. Other photos I put in a nice album. Hobby Lobby carries some that are very reasonable and nice looking, about $6.99. (Cheaper w/ coupon)

I give mine away. If I have pictures left over of my neices or nephew I give them to my sister(not a scrapper). Any extra pics of my son I give to my mom to scrap. HTH!

Ha ha, you mean we have options? I thought when the photos piled up waist high we shut the door to that room and didn't open it again. When all the rooms were filled we moved! I used to just put them in a box. Now, I'm at least putting them in a photo album so they're a little more organized. I'm also sending the extras to family. RE: Galoosh: Do a thematic page like 'Fall Memories' or 'High School Fun'. Use large letter templates and trace letters onto the leftover pics instead of cardstock. You can squeeze lots more pics on a page that way. example: Fair Folk, By Galoosh

Toss 'em!

I print only what I think I'll need. I throw the extras away. And the rest are saved on my hard drive. I do not have the time (or the space) to keep printed photos organized. And I'd almost never look at them anyway. My scrapbook pages contain just about every good photo I have anyway.

Do a thematic page like 'Fall Memories' or 'High School Fun'. Use large letter templates and trace letters onto the leftover pics instead of cardstock. You can squeeze lots more pics on a page that way.

I like the idea of using them on cards. I just print out what I am going to scrap so I really don't have many leftovers, but this is a good tip!

I just saw a tip on a scrapbooking show that suggested you buy a punch (say 2" square) and punch out the important section of your leftover photos. Then use the squares on cards, on layouts; can be a before & after, part of a background, etc. Seemed like a good tip. Why not throw a few photo squares inside cards you are sending relatives, it's better than collecting dust in a box.

Just cleared this up at my house
I went through all my photos and organized them in storage boxes by the way I want to scrap them. Any pictures that were not scrap-worthy went in a pile.
I bought some basic pocket albums and put the photos in there. I didnt put them in any fancy order, just something the kids can flip through and enjoy the odd or really busy crazy photos.

I couldn't stand all the "storage" that was happening, and no one was getting to see them. That's my beef with digital too.

I print way too many pictures because I rarely have an idea how my layouts are going to turn out. But I'm too impatient to wait for *the next trip to the printers*. Depends but mostly I file them away in an Already Scrapped file.I figure that someday someone else might want those extra pix and VOILA there they will be all ready for them.
